நான் கடந்த 2003ல் கொடைக்கானல் to மூணார் செல்லும் தடை செய்யப்பட்ட பாதையில் வனத்துறை அனுமதியோடு பயணித்தேன் மொத்தம் 90 கிமீ பாதையை மூன்று நாட்கள் நடந்து சென்றேன். இந்த பாதை முழுவதும் அடர்ந்த மரங்களால் மூடப்பட்டு சூரிய ஒளிபுகாத பாதையாக இருந்தது. மோசமான மிருகங்கள் நிறைந்து காணப்பட்டது. இந்த பாதை மனிதனின் மூளையை பாதிப்பு உண்டாக்கும் வகையில் இருந்தது. இந்த பாதை மதிகெட்டான் சோலை போன்றது. பேரிஜசம் ஏரியிலிருந்து 40 கி.மீ தொலைவு சென்றால் மரியன் சோலை என்ற இடம் உள்ளது இங்கு 1904 ல் ஆங்கிலேயர் கட்டிய கட்டிடம் உள்ளது அதில் முதல் நாள் இரவு தங்கினேன் பின்னர் மீண்டும் 40 கி.மீ நடந்து சென்று கேரளா எல்லையில் இருந்த வாட்ச் டவரில் தங்கினேன் இந்த இடம் புலிகள், அதிகம் வாழ்வதாக தெரிவித்தனர். இந்த பாதையின் அழகை வாழ்வில் ஒரு முறை காண்பது என்பது மனிதன் நிலவிற்கு சென்று வந்ததற்கு சமம். அதே சமயம் இந்த பாதை ஆபத்துகள் நிறைந்தது. உயிரை பற்றி கவலைப்படாமல் செல்லலாம். ஆனால் அதற்கான அனுமதி இனி கிடைக்காது.
