Outlaw Nationals V-drive Event - Showdown at Sundance Saloon!

I attended my first Outlaw Nationals V-drive event on Thanksgiving weekend last year. River Daves Place asked me to come out and shoot it for a story on the website so I was happy to help. What started out as a friendly get together about 6 years ago has turned into whats now known as the Outlaw Nationals.
For years, guys like Tony Scarlata, Scott Steele and Steve Feist have been running their hotboats up and down the parker strip on Thanksgiving weekend, which is a long running tradition. But once they got organized and made it official, it really took off. Now the event itself has become a tradition that the v-drive boating community looks forward to in itself.

V-drive boats! A swarm of v-drive boats! I could(and have!) watch and rewatch these vids hundreds of times! Apparently Mr Algo has that figured out as well, bcuz he knows, just put a post about v-drives up, and I will gladly watch it over and over! I feel powerless in their presence! The noise, the speed, the water and the people seem different. I occasionally see other posts about boats/boating and owners of v-drives seem so happy and willing to help anyone! One time, I was at the ramp with my v-drive all set to go home, and I notice a poor family of outboarders looking all sad as there boat had a dead battery. I (it was as if I had a cape on) swing into action, removed my live battery in like two minutes, and said to the poor outboarders, here take mine! The girl I was with was stunned, as was her 8yr old son! We all left, the outboarders had a good day and then returned my battery the next day! So cool, they were so happy, and it just felt right to pop out my battery, impress my date and her son, and make those poor outboarders happy!!

Love hearing all these blown V8’s, also perfect venue for acoustics/ sound and/ or some incredible videographers. Highlight by far: dude up on balcony toward end of video with a radar gun. Nice! 👏✌️

I remember Lebon from Chandler and the world finals... I earned my World Finals Championship that year also driving Mondo's old Kurtis 500 (Liquid Assets).. driving a 7 second boat in a 9 second class.. was a great time to be a boat racer

Riding dirt bikes in the dunes across the river in the 70s . We rode from big bend to the falls in the evening after dinner to take a shower.

My Dad (miss him) and I were desert rats. We would do a breakfast trip, Ocotillo to Ocotillo Wells 25miles each way. The two stroke guys would have to bring there oil with em to fuel up. LMAO the two stroke guys

Just an exhibition event. Pretty casual. Started out as just a gathering of all the local hotboaters that come to town for Thanksgiving weekend. Now they actually close the river for hot laps and have an organized show and shine to go with it. Great time with good peeps.

Back in the days that we said hit it I grew up on the Parker Colorado River learn how to ski learn how to drive a boat did all that man I actually live in the San Fernando Valley we used to go there like twice a year

@@FastLoudPhotography HEY!!!! I watched too, despite the friggin building in the way. True that on the colors for sure. I run similar engine but in a '64 Pro Street Corvette. If you click on this puny channel and follow the name around a bit you can see some of our 30 years of southern anything that rolls or floats...well, and a couple of planes for background. I used to put a lot of thot and energy in my backgrunds. Water, cool houses, mountains, that beautiful light just as the sun is goin down. Then realized that after you put all the necessary info on the front of an 8X10 magazine i was lucky to get vehicle and model on there. Guys dont care bout artistic creativity on a car magazine but it kept us in business for 30yrs. Bout to have to go all internet or shut er down. Hard to believe we were just 37 when the idea lightbulb lit up over my head. Looking for some artistic computer whiz to handle the internet part. 30 years and thousands of photo for content and plenty of models for videos. G rated. Well, maybe PG depending on inspired fantasy. Keep up good work. You finally got a good spot....edit it to the beginning. Hi Royce. There are so many variables. Most of these are big block Chevy’s, running anywhere from 500 to 1500 hp depending on the build/setup. The K-boats are running blown alcohol and can do speeds in the 130’s - 140’s mph. The smaller builds with single carb, mild hp can run in the 60’s - 70’s. There’s a lot in between that, but more than I could cover here. Thanks for watching!

We used to have competitions in the 70s to see how many times you could hold on between Parker dam and blue water and do a u-turn , after 3 1/2 laps my brother and his co-horts tried to shake me free so I let go of the rope at big bend where my super hot girlfriend was. @@FastLoudPhotography I get his point but not the way it was made. Bout every boat races I've been to they don't even announce the time or mph at the race. I've videoed 100's of high school events over the years and finally just patched the stadium announcer on to my tape. No 'Tube back then. Putting some up now. The kids back then now have grandkids playin and very few folks back then even had VCRs so it's cool for them to see this stuff. You covered the reply pretty good. Didn't bring a production company with ya. I can do "radio voice" or video but not both at the same time. L8r.
