Based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore, V for Vendetta takes place in an alternate vision of Britain in which a corrupt and abusive totalitarian government has risen to complete power. During a threatening run in with the secret police, an unassuming young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) is rescued by a vigilante named V (Hugo Weaving) -- a caped figure both articulate and skilled in combat. And then it goes on for DAYS, until you finally think you are passing out of all care . . . and of course the torture is stopped, and your MOST vulnerable relative is conducted into the cell, and told "Here is a medical kit, nurse him back to health, you have five days. When you have done, it will be YOUR turn in the chair".

Well, what is everyone afraid of losing? Their comfortable lifestyle! If there is corruption, people turn a blind eye to what the government does so they can stay comfortable! Citizens give up more of their rights up to the government to obtain a false sense of security! When you oppose the corruption YOU become the very villain of society! You'll be labeled terrible things by the corrupt establishment and so people just obey and stay quiet! However, when you're ready to sacrifice everything for a better country! A better society! A fair society! A free society! Then you must sacrifice everything, including yourself, to make that statement and fight for whatever is right! The U.S had to fight a war against the British Empire to become its own country! The U.S had people who made many sacrifices to be a free and fair nation for all.....only to be deceived by those in power again!
