V- Strom 800DE First Impressions Off-Road From A Light Adventure Bike Rider

I had the opportunity to test out the new Suzuki V-Strom 800DE on a solo moto camping adventure. Coming from a light adventure bike background and being fairly light myself, I was curious to see what the V-Strom 800DE had to offer off-roads. When you really think about it the power and feel is perfect I think the de800 is the best 50 50 bike ever it becomes more you the more you ride it

Riding the 800DE was an amazing experience. I agree with you, As a 50/50 it is perfect. It was a little heavy for me, but it is such an amazing bike.

Ive been doing alot of 2 up with minimal lugage, overnight to 2 day trips. Its been wonderful so far, just a little down on power but an upcoming ecu flash, air box mod and de cat should net about 10 more ft lbs of torque and 5 to 7 more hp im hoping....

the 800DE was really awesome. I can imagine 2 up the 800DE would come up a little short on power, did you do the upgrades? what was the power improvements?

Struth did I just get home and open the you tube appthe same time as our video dropped? Ha ha nice Edit, spent some time looking at other reviews and googled the bike a heap but couldn’t find the payload weight for it. With a nice simple set up like yours it would probably be fine. But throw the side boxes on, and head off for a week and I wonder if you’d be over loaded. Still a nice looking bike though

I reckon an ideal set-up for this bike would a set of mosko moto rackless 20, with a small 10lt top bag. I dont think I would ever do the suzuki hard boxes for adventure riding. I was fairly concerned about the weight of my kit before i set off. Curb weight is 230kg and I'm 72 ish kg with gear on. To my surprise you really cant feel the weight. I assume when you have to pick her up from an incline it would be a very different story. overall I really enjoyed taking the 800DE adventuring.
