I was lucky enough to drive one of these on the autobahn when they first came out. I remember nailing the throttle and being rather surprised when, not very long after, I felt myself being gently bounced forwards in my seat. I immediately panicked, thinking something had broken, before realising the car had run into its top-speed limiter with such force that the sudden halt in acceleration was like tapping the brakes, and the car was so quiet, refined and unfussed at 155mph that I had no idea how fast I had been going. Simply magnificent.

I was born and grew up in Germany ... and when the day came when I was having my license test ... I was doing 140 kmh on the Autobahn and a BMW overtook me , like I didn't even exist . My instructor , a very experienced Veteran at the job told me : "He must have been doing at least 250 kmh to overtake you like this !" :)

Still remember the day in late 2008 I first saw the then-new 7 series, in a glass box on Munich airport. It was a 750li that looked like a spaceship to me at that time :) I was lucky enough to own two of those in the following years, and they were indeed amazing cruisers. Too bad the engines are riddled with issues and notoriously unreliable.

I would love to see this motor in the 8 Series... like the original E31 8 Series had the V8 and the V12 - this motor, tuned by M division to a competition spec, in an M8 (or M5, or X5M) would make a very fine vehicle indeed...

This is INSANELY comfortable car! I believe this is the best cruiser and it accelerates like a rocket! It is amazingly quick, just how it picks up after 200 is amazing. I am a huge fan of F01/02s and the 760Li is just a monster. Remember, not only it is V12, but its a RWD! By far, this is the best looking 7 series, not ugly like the newest one... I freakin hate they make designs, like a Cyberpunk 2077 BMW, not like a real-world car fan would like it.

Wat een geweldige bak.. Bij dit soort video’s vind ik t alleen wel vaak jammer dat er echt alleen maar volgas gereden wordt in de sportstand, terwijl het juist zo indrukwekkend is om te zien met hoe weinig toeren zo’n machine enorme stappen neemt met nog geen half gas. En dan blijft versnellen met toeren die voor de normale stervelingen auto’s net boven stationair zijn. Misschien een tip.. zou leuk zijn om te zien.

Personally I would choose the Alpina B5 or Alpina B7. You have over 600HP from a smooth 4,4 liter engine. Alpinas are much more comfy and suited for high speed cruising than their more sporty counterparts like the M5 and E63 and such

Surprised that the reves were @ 55 hundred @ 220 and stayed as speed increased. engine was working full out, thirsty for fuel too. I know the top end shifts were @ 68 hundred. Last two gear. Seemed smooth as glass shifting, chassis too and quite.

We will remember this vehicle as a monster. Unfortunately, BMW does not produce V12 engines. I hope BMW will manufacture new versions of the 7 series and X series with the V12 engines installed.
