Watched video to learn about track. Came out with the best video I have seen on track etiquette and also very informative. Thank you. Everybody please listen to what the man is saying. So important. Again great video!!! I subscribed. I would also add to check your mirrors constantly like Tommy always does.

Been following your channel for several years and now starting to watch back some of your track videos as I am starting to take my G80 manual to the track. At which point/experience level did you feel confident to turn off traction control?
@TommyLGarage Жыл бұрын
It took me a few years. But with a g80 I say keep it in MDM and you’ll be fine.

Got to look this track up. One of the reasons i haven't signed up a track day is because I'm not good at heal n toe.
@TommyLGarage5 жыл бұрын
Auto Rev matching really helps if you have that option. But honestly you don’t need to be good at it. I used to trash my Volvo at that track all the time and i barely knew how to do it

Great vid, good to see what your thinking about as you go round rather than just a lap time chasing video. I do get tempted to do a trackday in my f80 after watching your various track vids but worried about potential damage to wheels and paint. I only live 20 mins from silverstone gp UK.
@TommyLGarage6 жыл бұрын
Deangooner it was my first time commenting while on track so it could have been better. But honestly don’t let paint chips and other minor stuff ruin what could be your best experience with your car. Track days are amazing.

m3summ let’s plan for next year for sure. All you need for your first time are fresh brake fluid and pads. Rest should be fine. Well and tires maybe. And a helmet
@Tonybagadonuts276 жыл бұрын
Tommy L Garage yeah definitely would love to come out, take it all in then get the car ready. I could use stock wheels for track so that’s good. That would be awesome if your willing to walk me through it!!!
@RCFunTime6 жыл бұрын
The rules sucks on your track. We in the UK don't need to wait for the slower car to stick a hand up for you to pass (seems more dangerous putting window down to have your arm up in the air?!?). We simply pass if it's safe. Having said that, I use my turn signal to let faster cars to pass. Anyways, it's true m3/m4 makes a great track weapon. Nothing in the same price bracket can touch us ;)
@TommyLGarage6 жыл бұрын
I find that the point by system for passing increases safety. I was once at a private track event and it was very chaotic. Too many people wanting to go nuts.
@Hole_Motorsports5 жыл бұрын
I run at NJMP, more advanced groups do not require point bys. In the intermediate and beginner groups it makes a ton of sense.

Hey man, I'm excited to see what you are doing with your M3. I have a 2018 competition package M3 and I'd like to do more track activities in 2019. I live in PA so NJMP and the Poconos are my closest tracks. I am trying to get a wheel and tire setup before next year. What do you do for track inspection and Insurance? Hopefully I can meet you in one of these events in 2019. Thanks for your informative videos.
@TommyLGarage6 жыл бұрын
jalloor hey hey. Yes track days are awesome with these cars! Happy to help with whatever you need. I run stock 18 inch wheels and Pilot super sport tires. I self-inspect my car and I do not do track insurance. Track days are often times safer than driving on the street.
