Following a hastened tour of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, I make my way to North Sydney, where I catch a ferry to Newfoundland. Upon arrival, I wander throughout the southwest corner of the island, experiencing secluded four-wheel drive tracks, lighthouses, crystalline waters, leftover pizza, and vast expanses of wilderness.

Is he a great guy? I'm starting to wonder. I've watched a bunch of his videos and I haven't seen one response from him to any of the comments. Now maybe I'm being premature, and he has responded to others. But from what I'm seeing right now, his lack of responding to his subscribers would belie the statement that he's a good guy

(I am replying so you know I'm a good guy!) Yes, I am disappointed with the lack of supplies too, I admit. I've suggested to him that he reply to folks too.I think he'd have many more followers/supporters if he chose to be more interactive. It is His channel and I enjoy his content. Tens of thousands of folks seem to agree.

So glad you went to Meat Cove..it's awesome. We just missed a "First-to-Find" geocache when we were there some years back. One thing we didn't miss was upon almost reaching Meat Cove a little red car was coming from the other direction. We both had New Hampshire license plates on our vehicles. We stopped to stay hello and was greeted with "Which way to Weirs Beach" which is the next town over from where we live, and the couple knew people I worked with. Small world.

Chris, I've been watching your videos for a long time, never posted. I have to say you really do a great job capturing the essence of the areas you travel to. A few months ago you would have passed right by where I live in the interior of British Columbia, and you recently passed near my brother's home in Nova Scotia - we live over 5,600km (3,400 miles) apart! And my brother's step son lives in Port aux Basque, and my wife in her earlier years lived in Newfoundland - I mention it because these are huge distances, and you've covered so much of it. I really appreciate that you mix some in town stuff with your willingness to travel solo into some remote areas as well - even with a reliable vehicle solo backcountry travel gives a person a unique mix of heightened awareness, and peacefulness. Looking forward to your continued travels.

Chris, I know many times in your videos you mention that one thing you are trying to accomplish is to find what your 'calling' is. I think us subscribers who watch your videos every week see what you were meant to do and you're doing a fantastic job at it. I'm getting my Rubicon at the end of the year and I've learned a ton from just watching videos like yours. I'm hopeful to have similar adventures as you and maybe someday our paths will cross and I'll buy you a pizza. Take care and keep up the great work.

Been watching your channel for a long time now. I'm from St. John's the capital of Newfoundland. You have to hike Gros Morne, in the national park. About an hour east of corner brook you turn north in deer lake. About an hour or so north you will hit the park. Best to save that for when you head to Labrador. So much to see in central Newfoundland and the east coast. St. John's is vibrant in cultural attractions, a must see. In fact it's the oldest city in North America. Cape spear is the most easterly point in North America and also close to St. John's. I'll keep an eye out for you, I drive a lifted 2020 White Gladiator, perhaps we can grab a coffee. Cheers

I'm glad you got to see Meat Cove in the sun! I spent a little over a week in Newfoundland two years back and it really wasn't enough time. Highlights of the trip were Signal Hill in St John's (also consider getting "screeched in" at Christian's Bar; it's an experience; Jag was a great hotel if you need one), popping over to the French island St Pierre for a night, and the Viking settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows. You're living the dream!

Cool to see you climbing the same rocks as we did at Meat Cove! If you ever get back to Cape Breton, you have to hike out to the tip of White Point. So many spots where a non-resident can’t legally fish without a guide and an expensive non-resident license. In Newfoundland a non-resident may only fish with 800m of a provincial highway, without contracting the services of a guide/outfitter.
