Love it, sounds great. Looks like a nice swap. Did a 408 stroker LQ9 LS swap on my 2 gen 4runner. It was a lot of work and R,&D. It's reliable, passes smog, no overheating issues. I love the drive by wire, the cruise control is incredible, but this looks like a lot less work. The 4.7 a excellent engine, physically small but very powerful and reliable.

Kind of a secret but I'll give you this much. You gotta have the whole quarter cut from the surf. Drill the welds and take out the inner reinforcement bracket. It's the only way to do it right. It sandwhiches in between the quarter pannel outer and the inner webbing. Took me four hrs to install without cutting or damaging anything. Had to make a template with the old outer to drill the holes perfect. Use a body hammer to correct the putter quarter. Scarey to do.

I really appreciate the JDM upgrades. the Rear mirror thing is pretty cool. I had a pristine bumper, when I first got the truck. it's been down hill ever since. The 2UZ is definitely more awake in a 400lb lighter vehicle.

@lifeofbengyn tundra and taco 4run have the same thing case mounting. You can use any case. E case or manual. Pretty cool. I'm a prerunner on this one but check out my suburban build. Its 4wd with marlin crawler stuff.

If you can find a crashed tundra it's the cheapest way. You need the trans. Make sure it's the non immobilizer model. Less wiring.

Very nice clean swap, quick question. I have a 95 4 runner and a 2001 sequoia 4x4 donor truck. Both are A340f transmission. Being a removable belhousing transmission, can I put the 4.7 belhousing on my original transmission and bolt the 4.7 up to my same A340? Appreciate any input. My research makes me think I can but considering you obviously know the toyota line well it would be nice to get you to confirm or let me know why it's a no go.. Thanks.

You have to use the sequoia trans. There are several differences. But you can get the marlin adapter for the t case so you can use your stock one on the v8 As long as it's the manual shift t case.

It is manual shift t.case. would have no problem going that route ,just curious of the trans difference for better knowledge of the parts. Yours sounded awesome pulling through it's range. Makes me motivated to get started on mine.

@@barrysims7631 there is a throttle kick down cable on the 3vz trans. I always hated the auto for the 3vz. Just seemed like something was always worn out with the valve body when I use to take them apart at Toyota. Newer is always better.

Well I did the 02 tundra cuz its less wiring. The 05 06 has way more wiring, vvti and 5 speed but it also has a different canister. But I think it's worth it. I did it in a suburban and it has way more power than mine.

Its easy for me but I'm a toyota tech and I've done about 30 custom swaps in my life. Idk your level of ability but if you don't do stuff like changing a clutch or transmission or even a t case this would be a hard swap for you mechanically. Electrically this can be very confusing if you don't know how to read a schematic.

I did the 5vz in a 1st gen and 2nd gen. Pretty good swap because this one is a bit large for the 2nd gen. Its been done along time ago but as always the radiator is a factor.

I got 19mpg when cruising it. Foot in it gets 13. Hatch wasn't too much just took monthes to get from Japan. The tire mount is the hard part. Then welding in the nut sert style plate was a pain. It's factory set up though.

Alexis Charlton if manual and no smog then 1uz. 1uz is only a 4.0 and it's old technology. That's up to you though. I wanted auto and the bigger the better so I did the 4.7. I posted info in other videos on what has to be done.

Alpha Dogs also one more question I can't seem to find an answer to, in my 4runner I have the electronic 4x4 button on my gear shifter which activates 4 high. Will I lose 4 high with the swap? Assuming the tundra doesn't have that feature there's probably no way to hook that up
