I loved your presentation, I have been trying to understand the exhaust pulse cycle and reconcile the discussion on equal length or not exhaust headers . I feel you have helped me on the journey to understanding. I’m hoping you have a video on exhaust pulsing and headers. Keep cranking out the videos, you have a lot to offer now, just wait till you’re 60.

Liked and subscribed. A quick note: you can develop all of the potential firing orders by using your “paired cylinders” list and moving twice left to right, simply changing which of the 2 available you choose each time - some of these are bad (a lot of rocking moment) and some are good. I had heard Ford used the “same order” but numbered differently; thanks for showing that detail. My project involves changing the numbers used on the Ford Mod V8 so that the ECU can be swapped to a Chevy or Dodge without a lot of reprogramming (essentially, I’ll be ignoring Ford’s numbering since it is MUCH easier to think left-right “balance” by referring to even vs. odd numbered banks). Now to compare your video to the Mod V8 firing order….(LS order)

I have been trying to figure out the firing order of all major V8 engine series with their cylinder numbering in mind and it looks like there's really only a few effectively different firing orders. Something like maybe 4 different crossplane firing sequences, but not more than that.

Wt if me made 2 cylinder to fire at same time will we get more boost ??
@BadInfluenceGarage3 жыл бұрын
Boost is just a measurement of pressure inside the manifold, If you try to fire 2 cylinders at once the timing would be off for 1 of the cylinders. if you had say a custom V16 you could double up and fire 2 cylinders at once but i would not recommend trying that on a traditional V8

I just bought a 88 chevy k2500 with a 5.7 and the firing order on the cap is backwards from what it should be but runs fine. Noticed this when going to put new plug wires on. Did they put the distributer in wrong previously or something? Tried moving wires to correct locations and engine wouldn't fire

I am trying to understand why a Ford V8 always sounds more raspy. I always thought it was the firing order.

@bestavatar89862 жыл бұрын
This is great but just for the sake of it I'm going to mention an important factor in that, if the firing order is so, than the "pairing" piston is infact at the top of the exhaust stroke, which must be understood as well for installing the heads. TDC is only the piston at the compression stroke.....TDC.

Does the pair cilinder can fire at same time?
@BadInfluenceGarage Жыл бұрын
No they cannot. With a 4 stroke or "4 cycle" engine (intake, compression, power, exhaust) it takes 2 full crank rotations to make the 4 cycles. The paired cylinders are on opposite strokes (coming up to TDC would be Exhaust & Compression)

Has no-one ever made a crankshaft to fully imitate a pair of i4's and keep four cylinders at TDC every stroke?
@budthecyborg45752 жыл бұрын
If you fire cylinders at even spacing (1-4-5-8, 2-3-6-7) the crankshaft would be loaded almost perfectly evenly with every ignition.
@BadInfluenceGarage2 жыл бұрын
@@budthecyborg4575 yes, it's called a flat plane crank, it's used in the Ford 5.2L GT350 engines.
