This is Part 2 of a two-part interview with two members of VA-86 about their experiences during the Vietnam War.
The museum was pleased to host former U.S. Navy Attack Squadron VA-86 Sidewinders members on October 12, 2024. The two were Barry Hendrix (on the left) and Mark Cartwright (on the right). Both were aircraft technicians. Barry, a Fire Control Technician (AQ), first talks about the technical advantages of the A-7. Mark was a Plane Captain. They were both a part of the Westpac Cruise of 1972-1973. Both stayed in the Navy after Vietnam, but Barry eventually left to work for local Fort Worth aviation companies.
The discussion was moderated by our museum collection manager, Ben Guttery.
