So my dad is a Vietnam era veteran. He served during Vietnam but not in it. He helped evacuate the burn victims. He was considered 100% disabled for a back injury in the Army. He's 81 now and each time he gets ANY blood infection or UTI his mental capabilities are impacted. This last blood staff infection caused him to have the mental capability of a late stage dementia patient. We had to actually sit him on the toilet, and change his clothes. I'm currently giving him antibiotics via IV. and it's supposed to go on until October. I have to do the shopping, and the cooking every day. He is refusing to take meds for his diabetes until he sees his provider. And he has been saying things like he's tired of being in pain. His neck is affected now by arthritis, and pinching the nerves to his hands, causing immense pain at times. Mom does his laundry, dishes, and the finances. He often doesn't shower. Usually only once a week unless he does outdoor work. He is now a risk for falls. We sent him to the hospital over the blood infection that caused the mental issues. What do I need yo do to start the process of getting paid for helping him? I can't work because I now have to watch him all the time. I'm not even comfortable leaving him alone long enough to go to church without my mom being awake. And she sleeps during the day. Would he need to start going to see a psychiatrist for the possible suicidal thoughts?

go to the va and apply for the program. if you meet the requirements and qualifications then you will be his caregiver. but he has to be going to appointments and see his doctor based on the injury he qualifies for.

Hi do you know if a 100% disabled Veteran from Korea era and living abroad is qualified for the VA Comprehensive Care Giver Program? I currently live in Southern Africa and I do submit my medical claims for service connected to FMP. I need to know if I qualify for caregiver, my husband takes care of me and help with doctor appointments, medicine, food, shopping. I get dizzy had have prostate cancer. Thank you,

to be honest i dont know.. the program was restructured and there was a second program added for veterans from previous wars such as yourself.. www.caregiver.va.gov and also visit www.va.gov/family-member-benefits/comprehensive-assistance-for-family-caregivers/

My husband was diagnosed with really bad PTSD beside the fact he has really back problems he get really bad panic attack I have my CNA license how can I aply to take care of my husband

CNA license is good just follow the original videos i posted with the ADL's questionaires which will help you.. i have a bunch of videos.. the method got me to tier 3 which later was taken away for other reasons but atleast i proved my method got me there lol
