I was just awarded 30% for bilateral pes planus with plantar fasciitis, degenerative arthritis, and hallus limitus. I feel this rating is low. I have custom orthotics and still have to be prescribed topical pain and anti-inflammation creams. I'm thinking about doing a higher level review. Do you think it's worth my effort? With my current ratings, I'm at 93%. So close!
@milleniumann28 Жыл бұрын
That does sound low! I'm hoping for 50%, all my research on planus and fasciitis alot of people got rated for 50% with both injuries. Luckily my examiner diagnosed fasciitis bunions athletes foot and callus on heel. So I'm gonna be pissed if the rating isn't 50%. I study the rating guidelines of the keywords and I make sure I say them 3 times during the exam so there is no question if they didn't type those keywords into the computer! I'll report back my rating will come thru in the next week I'm sure of it.

@boxelder91673 жыл бұрын
Anything service connected is a viable claim. I would go pay a private doctor to do an exam for you because they don’t have the same biases as the va doctors. Collect any lay statements from your family or past employers who were aware it was causing you problems. Once you get all of your evidence together including the pertinent military evidence then file your claim on the VA website or get a VSO to file it for you. They will likely send you for an exam for your rating and present your evidence during your evaluation. Think of this like it’s an insurance claim because that’s basically what it is. No evidence, no claim. If you have evidence then you have a claim.

23 years ago, I put in for back and knee pain disability. It was documented in my service records for being treated for it. I was still denied. Since I couldn't submit this evidence again, I saw pain doctors with pages of medical treatments, still denied. Since denied, I had to request physical therapy to make life tolerable for the pain. Now I am not able to stand or walk. Filed for PTSD, even though diagnosed on Persian gulf registry, still denied. Was even recommended in denial that I no longer should go to TRP (trauma recovery program) for treatment since I was denied. Nevertheless, I have been in the TRP program for almost 20 years. I've been trying since 1997. My VSO has even told me countless times that I wont ever get help and that it would be useless to file since I am a woman and didn't see combat even though I served in Operation Desert Shield. I had considered suicide many times concerning this, so this video is long overdue yet unrealistic for African American women seeking compensation in the south. I've from Mississippi.(Pattie Ross, Greenville MS) You're free to look at the countless denials I've received from the Jackson VA regional office and medical center.☹️☹️☹️

@Brandon McNeely, VA usually reevaluates veterans’ service-connected disabilities between two and five years from the date of the decision to grant VA disability benefits. The purpose of reevaluation is to verify either the continued existence and/or the current severity of a service-connected condition.

I haven’t been called in once since I got out in 2005 . I’m always injuring my foot but now that I have a reasonable accommodation at work I work for VA I miss many days because of my inability to get my swollen foot into a steel toe boot . I’m not required to bring a note because the condition is listed as chronic by VA. So I haven’t been going for treatment as much because one it’s an 84 mile round trip and two when I do go the Dr. sees my foot and says I shouldn’t be doing any work for two weeks at a time and I’ll use up all of my sick time . I’m a 13 yr employee I only have 6 hours of sick time currently due to my foot . Also we just had a temporary director for 3 months from VBA and I can’t help but think this is related . Do I have the right to see what the regional office is saying on their computer? Do I need to submit any evidence to them now or only if they propose to decrease ? Thanks .

I am already getting 20% for fractured clavicle and recently filed a new claim for fractured scapula. It appears they are trying to combine the two into one injury. For example, the status on their website -they are marking my NEW claim as an "increase". I called the VA customer service number and they guy said they consider the scapula and clavicle the same bone---that is crazy! The clavicle is the collar bone on your front side near adams apple and the scapula is the shoulder blade bone on your backside. both have 2 different symptoms. Please explain this logic. Thank you

That happened to me when I just wanted them to check out a bunion I developed during the military, and mainly just wanted them to do surgery on it (this was within a year after I got out). They ended up telling me my feet became flat and I got 30% additional rating for that, which I was not expecting at all. I didn’t know it was a thing for ratings either which is why I never though of it. Hopefully you get or got the same rating. However, I never got the bunion surgery.

@boxelder91673 жыл бұрын
I would have been admitted for inpatient PTSD if it wouldn’t have bankrupted me. But if I had then possibly the higher rating for PTSD. Personally I think I would be pretty happy if I had 90 because I would be happy if I never had to go back to the VA. However if you can’t work you can apply for permanent and total to get to 100.

What do you do when the examiner does not conduct the actual examination? Lies on the exam, and is not prepared for the exam. I had one that did not conduct the exams, but filled out the DBQ's with alot of inaccurate information, including job.

That is the stone wall where I am at, I am direct SC for lower back and secondary for lower extremities ridiculopathy. I have feet pain that coincides same time it started during my ridiculopathy agony and a lot of these doctors say that back pain does NOT cause feet pain. The only doctors who miraculously believe that my feet pain is associated to my back is my VA Podiatrist and it is annotated within my notes. Also found out according to a diagram of the human spine and spinal cord nerves associated to different internal body parts that is connected, heck, my SC lower back pain is primarily because of L5 S1, low and behold L5 S1 is associated with FEET!🤷🏻♂️ How dare ANY doctors disagree with the very medical textbooks they study from in their universities, the audacity!
@champ91044 жыл бұрын
I have the same back issue and I'm SC for it as well. My feet have always bothered me but my back stays in pain as well as the radiating pain in my legs. My weight has jumped up tremendously and I'm well overweight. I'm 29, 5'7, and weigh 264. I'm obese definitely by definition. Within the last few months I have told the provider at the VA that I have had this going on. He has given me insoles and even before then I purchased asics, new balance and Adidas. My feet are suffering.
