Biggest problem I found is that the clinic is in the embassy so just walking in is not a option. Trying to get a appointment is not all that easy I found it's easier to fly to Guam and goto the navy base. The other options here is goin to see a Filipino doctor or to the hospital in angeles will except our insurance or pay up front and apply for reimbursement. Things are much cheaper here so it's easier sometimes to just pay a private dr! Just my 2 cents since I live in leyte now for a few years.

For most of my needs I go to a Doctor at the hospital here. How easy is it to get into the clinic in Guam? I have thought about that if I need surgery.
@kboyandthewife42617 ай бұрын
@@barryinthepi390 I had a friend home the navy who now lives in Thailand who went to the hospital in angeles that took our military insurance and he had a fantastic results I think it's much easier to go there than fly to Guam get a hotel transportation and all that but it's easy to go to the navy station hospital in Guam as long as you have your 100% va disability ID to get on base. Otherwise it's a little more getting the visitor ID and not sure if ur wife or girlfriend can come on base with you there are rules you need to check into I just go back to the states once a year now and do everything there but thats just me easier plus there is a huge va in Cleveland 20mins from my place hope that helps a little

I'm a RET veteran with a service connection in TX. What other services do they provide? Are you able to get most of your medication in Manila? I'm going back to the Philippines for 3 months. I just want to know, just in case I needed more meds.

The VA in Manila provides NOTHING to US Vets....go somewhere more friendly...thats NOT here
@barryinthepi3907 ай бұрын
They will provide any medicines tht re related to your disablity. I have been able to find most of the medicines that I need here. And they usually are cheaper. Mercury Drugs are all over the Philippines and they often have the ones I need. There are many others too. I get my Blood tests and vaccines at the VA clinic. I go to the Doctors found in the Hospitals for any other things that come up. They are much cheaper than in the USA. Hope this helps.

Hi Barry, I am interested in the blood pressure medicine you mentioned. Is there a place a person can purchase the medicine outside of the Philippines? I have a brother, who is a 90 yr old former Marine, who needs a good blood pressure medicine. 😢

It's called Neocardia, It's a dietary supplement made by Lilab. I'll ask Maita what the phone # to order it is. It has certainly worked for me. They advertise it on Facebook. It was developed by a Philippine Doctor so I don't know if it is available in the USA.

Were you enrolled with the VA clinics in the USA? If you are, then just go there with the ID card from where you were befor you moved here. Some one there will help you get enrolled. Bring your miltarty records with you, including medical records from the last VA clinic. That should get you enrolled here. They are nice people and will tell you what else they will need from you and assign you with a team. Good Luck and let us know how it went.

@@Puertoricanmarriedtofilipina We bought a Toyota Hilux Pikup when we moved here 5 years ago. We livied in Austin, Tx.. We now live west of Tagaytay. This area is higher in elevation and the weather is much cooler than in Manila or Angeles City. Right now we are in the heatwave, but still cooler than other place in the PI. Good luck with driving in Manila, that traffic is a killer.

Social security benefits will not be eligible in the Philippines bottom line that is the reason not to retire in the Philippines

@@barryinthepi390 The monthly pension,SS can still get through electronic deposit direct to your bank account.But hospital visits and prescriptions Part A and Part B are not covered.The hospital or clinic must be on US or it’s territories.That is my understanding!

What do you expect the Philippines is not one of the US States. You leave the US the constitution does not follow you.
@barryinthepi3907 ай бұрын
The Philippines was once a US Territory, the US has had Miliary bases here for many years. Many Vets have married women here. We have had close ties to the Philippines, including right now. There are two VA Clinics here, thay should be full service clinics considering how many of us moved here.

It's the USA that stopped the clinics from being full service clinics. My Doctor complains about not being able to help me fully. We need Congress to make them able to fully help us vererns here. Everywhere I have gone to the people have been very friendly and welcoming. Where we live, the people here have always treated me with respect and friendliness. I give work to the locals often and the are hard workers and also like to have fun doing so. We love it here and consider it our paradise.
