I’ve come to realise many people struggle to retire early as their self-worth is based upon their career and their job defines who they are as a person and how they believe they are perceived by others. They can’t let go. So, William, don’t beat yourself up about it. You have a rich life you have designed for yourself and if you were to pass tomorrow, as you’ve said, what a life you have lived my friend!

The best thing is brother to have a base, a land, a house that you own in a place that suits you and where you are happy. And from there you can travel the world. But travelling without having a base leaves you with a feeling after some time as if you are everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Find and build your base brother and then your explorations will be way more satisfying. Everything is about balance in life, having a base and traveling from time to time will bring you exactly that.

100% correct. Without that stable home base it’s makes everything so much harder, especially if you have desire to have a family. Which William always contemplates. It will be so hard to find a partner to commit to you without that stable location to fall back on. Women don’t want a drifter.

Just as true words William spoke earlier in the video, it’s harder to travel around and be free when you’re older, so why not do it now? I’m 54, retiring soon and move overseas. Why not do it now when I can. I did it the opposite of William though, I’ve worked my ass off and saved until now.

You're absolutely right, you have seen and done more in your 30 something years than most people get the chance to do in their entire lifetimes. Many reasons why most people can't travel that extensively, you have been lucky to see and do so much. I wouldn't trade my sons for anything, but becoming a mom in my early 20's pretty much put me on a different path. I love being a mom, but I won't lie, sometimes I wish I had chosen motherhood a bit later in life and given myself a chance to see more of the world first.

Had the adventures of my life there in '92 to 94. Theres was nothing there except a,few beach huts at $5 a night. A,comunal restaurant and bathroom. It was a,secret paradise. We used to lie down on the ruins at night and watch the stars. It waz an unknown place . We swam in cenotes in the jungle. Play del carmen was a tiny village that was know only for the ferry to cozemel. Its all gone. What a time that was.

Oh, wow! When I went to the ruins of Tulum in '88, I wanted to go swimming in the water there, but was not allowed to go in. Getting to actually sleep there at night, must have been nothing short of magical. Maybe you got to swim there, too? I wish I had gotten to swim in the cenotes, but I didn't even know about them then.

What is a good purpose in life? Good question. It's good when we ask good questions of ourselves. We get better answers. I turn 65 this year. I'm very happy with my life. I've had ups and downs, and I've worked very hard. What I've realized is that being of service to others, in some manner, has made me happy. Hard work is good. Service to others is good. Not being only concerned just about myself is good. But, everyone needs to find their own purpose. I can't tell anyone else what they should do. Warmest Aloha to You.

@jacquelinenieddu1627 I'm just saying what has made ME happy. And what has made the quality of MY life better. Looking back over my life, the times when I was only focused on myself, when I was tremendously self-absorbed, and so-called "free"... those were the times I was most miserable, most lonely, and least satisfied. But, like I said, that's just ME.

I feel exactly the same way. I need to live in a place with a lot of windows and sunlight coming in. I've even fantasized about living in a glass house. Greenery around the outside does really up the vibe of a place. I see why you're happier now--you found some companionship. That's good. When you've traveled all over the place, of course it's hard to pick one place to settle down. Too many choices. Endless ones. People say when you're in the right place, you will know. I think maybe if you meet the right person, it might be wherever they are. I did a performance art piece once about living a life where you know that you've truly lived. Unfortunately, even I did not get to do much actual living, myself. What a cliffhanger ending. I definitely want to know how you solved your dilemma.

I’m the exact same too. Must have lots of natural light, be modern and have a light airy feel. I like some open space outside, not necessarily sea-views, I’m not fussed out those, I prefer a natural landscape. It calms me and I feel at peace.

William, I really think you are doing it right. Seeing the world, exploring, trying to consider what, where and who you want. No one I know has done it better. But the time may come, when you are ready to settle down and enjoy the company of a few close friends. That seems to often be the progression of life. I wish you continued joy in your travels. PS - 67 years old Canadian guy who after years of travel has chosed to settle in Koh Samui Thailand in retirement. Cheers mate.

That's what happens when you sold your soul to dirty self- proclaimed Masons, they're OC bunch, a NWO founders, money laundries/ embezzlers/ crypto miners and whatnot. I am targeted by them.. He used to be composed and positive, calm and now he just running their errands, business class flights/ selling RE/ hopping into new places just to drop all a week later..showing how bad streets in Tulum are, so no one wants to visit there. All this running in circles/ chasing tails crap. RIviera Maya is a frigging paradise so take all negatives with grain of salt, especially this time of year very lil to none sargassum in water and at beaches. Once spring-summer hits it gets pretty bad on Caribbean side , never a problem on Pacific however, Oaxaca on west coast is amazing too Huatulco-Zipolite-Mazunte-Puerto Escondido, much drier climate compare to east side. I noticed much less people however in video, I stayed in Mexico for 9 months during peak Covid in '22, it was the only country opened and it was paaacked, the most amazing trip of my entire life!!!

I thank you so much for sharing your videos. I get to live vicariously through you. One thing I noticed, though is that you always seem to be searching for something. Remember, we are human and all the money in the world. All the experiences in the world don’t matter unless we have someone to share it with. There’s a time for solitude, but we all need human connection and I think you would find your purpose if you had someone to share it with. It takes time to find connection with people and it takes a community whether it’s a church a job or a volunteer group. We can’t make those connections if you’re always moving around. Just a thought.

Well, I have a kiddo. She's 13 and my wife and I retired 3 years ago (43 and 45 years old). Being a dad isn't something I thought I would do, but I have to say it's amazing. The key is finding a partner who shares similar values to you and that lives a simple life and enjoys your pasta :) If you find that then having kids is amazing. You can show them all the great things you've learned and it's amazing. The first couple of years are busy with your kiddo, but after that you can go and create the amazing life you want. Every day reflect and appreciate all that you have. I will say you look lonely and missing something. Finding a partner is not easy, but I bet it would add a lot to your life, if you find someone to share it with. Hugs to you my bro.

Retired at 45??? Did you short the market or were a drug dealer. My pops is 68 and makes around the mid six-figure and has no plans to retire yet. I mean, he has nice things. But it seems I am going to be girding for another 20 years...

@@JohnnyXanax We saved and invested in low cost index funds. Followed the book, "The Simple Path to Wealth" and got to 25X our annual expenses, with some buffer, and pulled the plug. It's amazing. We travel often (every couple of months for about 2-3 weeks) and have the joy of having a home base with friends and community in California, where we live. No drugs involved :)

@@JohnnyXanaxit’s doable. Especially with a duel income, high savings rate into low risk stocks. I retired at 45 too. Just saving and investing in normal stocks.

Tulum draws a rather young crowd. Lots of 20 something year olds. So many other areas along that coast are full of retirees, or a older crowd.

Your not alone, William. You spoke the genuine truth. I dedicated my life to working for corporate, working my way up, not spending time with family or getting into a relationship. Corner office, nice car, and money in my pocket, but I didn't travel to see the world. I kept putting things on the back burner, and left an amazing girl... all for what, to sit in a nice home, empty. Just like the way you like diving, we both need to dive into a relationship, travel also, but settle down. Family is the purpose

Ah crap William, I'm sorry about that. Hard to know whether its laying at the bottom of a big mud puddle or someone picked it up. On the chance that a good samaritan may have come across it, where would they take it and turn it in? Do you remember where the biggest jolts occurred during your ride? If I were there I'd help you look for it. Good luck man!
