Been 6yrs already Legend Has It he went Bald from all the stress than one night he axed the living crap out of that little truck & found out it was a simple small hose behind the carburetor. He later on went to take stand up comedy lessons to forget the pain #truestory which he also uploaded on his channel poor guy hope he's doing well.

ok well I have fixed this issue a time or two. Look on the back of the carb near the throttle position sensor plug. Stand on the passenger side just under the air filter, there is a metal hose connect where a vacuum line must go. I believe that is where your leak is located. That is a normal issue with the S10 because of where it is located. I hope that helps.

How do you replace the line that goes into the back of the carburator to the engine?
@lisab33965 жыл бұрын
Marriel, I'm going to assume that you have figured that out by now. However, just in case you haven't, it is quite easy to do. On the driver side of the engine you will find the PVC valve with a large tube that goes to a fairly large roundish looking plug adapter right next to the throttle body. That adapter is pushed into the plenum and locks with a twist and has an O-Ring seal. Also on that adapter is a branch with the thin hard plastic vacuum hose that goes the front of the engine compartment near the heater blower motor. There it branches off and goes into the fire wall and to the interior heater switch control. One branch also goes down to the water/coolant valve down low almost near the alternator. Anyway, the thin hard plastic vacuum hose as it is laid/fed over the engine gets very hot and brittle and tends to just crumble away. That is a very typical problem with GM vehicles. Best thing to do is buy a minimum of three feet (3 ft) of 3/16 ID rubber vacuum hose from any auto parts store. Replace that lousy hard plastic hose with the rubber hose. Good luck.

Check the IAC. Sounds stuck open. Start the engine and let it idle for a minute then shut it off. Wait for at least one minute. Disconnect the IAC. Restart the engine, it should run at a high rpm, while running walk around and reconnect the IAC, it should decrease rpms. If it does the IAC is working, if not the IAC circuit is malfunctioning. Could be the IAC, could be wiring, could be the ecm. If you're using a scan tool the ecm will be commanding the IAC closed (towards a low count) that is noticeably lower than normal. It's trying to restrict idle air to lower the idle rpm. If the IAC count is low and the IAC seems fine then spray some carb cleaner around the intake and tbi where they mate and the intake where it mates to the heads. If you get some response then you need to replace gaskets. Also check your EGR valve where it mates to the intake, could be leaking there too. Be sure and check your TBI unit for throttle shaft binding and play. Also check for carbon build up causing the throttle valves to hang open.

I had same problem after replacing my distirbutor. there is a small almost 1/4 line directly behind the distributor running into the fire wall. that was my problem, might work for you

Spray some starterfluid around it sounds like you may need to put a new gasket on your intake manifold

I.e. a piece of garden hose or heater hose...hold to your ear and move the other end around while listening. You will definitely find where your vacuum leak is located. Who says you need expensive diagnostic tools to make a car run like a champ?
