This video will show you how the vacuum lines are routed in a USA spec 1998 Volvo V70 GLT, turbo car. It may be the same in the 1997 model 850 turbo (GLT and T5).

Great video robert. The vacuum lines should be the same for any 1998 turbo variant S/V70 GLT/T5. Also the plastic hose you mentioned that goes from the air intake tube into the metal line behind the engine routes to the Fuel Pressure Regulator near the front passenger wheelwell.

Thanks for the explanation of the spaghetti mess of vacuum hoses that is our Volvos. Is it common for the brake master cylinder hose under the battery to leak? Hey Robert , how you doing? ive been watching your videos for months they're great thanks so much for posting them they have saved me scratching my head heaps :o) , im currently doing a head gasket and head swap on my 98' GLT V70 i should have it finished in a day or 2 ,torquing down the Cyl. Head was a tedious job especially the last pass of 130 degrees , this video on vacuum hoses will help me out greatly tomorrow thanks again, i have a question its a little off topic , if you were to run NA cams on a GLT would there need to be any ECU tuning done? from all the videos ive watched that doesn't get a mention at all . the only thing ive learnt is that the max torque and power moves up the rev range a little i believe , your advice and info will be greatly appreciated. cheers from downunder Carlo B

Robert, Great Volvo repair vids. Used almost all of them after burning a valve in our 98 S70 turbo. A starting issue though after getting everything assembled: engine turns over but doesn't start (sounds like it wants to, but stumbles then nothing), I have a spark, fuel, timing marks look aligned and changed the cam position sensor. Also the battery is fully charged and new spark plugs. Are there any hoses that would cause a 'non-start'? Any other ideas on where to go from here? Thanks in advance.

Found a couple of hoses not connected fully, fixed them but car still doesn't start, turns over but doesn't start. 2 questions:1) does the slots on the back of the cams follow the same rule as the 850 model you've demo on in another video? I suspect that the timing marks are incorrect ( I didn't mark the cams when I removed them). 2) If the cam postion and crankshaft sensors are defective is a spark still present in plugs? Thanks again for your help, Leo

I has a air noise where the turbo is like a blow noice. We cant find anybad vacuum hose either. Do you have any experience of this! Thanks alot! :D

You would want to remove the bypass line and vent to air for your “flutter”/turbo sound when you let off the gas. Not sure the result on this car, but most it will run worse and throw a code. Price you pay it you want to sound “cool”. Goodluck.
