Thank you, thank you! This 80-year-old granny got my Roomba working again! I rely heavily on it as it's much easier for me than vacuuming, and with a long-haired pup who sheds A-LOT, there is a ton of hair to pick up. Roomba does an awesome job of this, but as you can imagine, there were copious amounts of dog hair tangled in the wheels and brushes, causing it to stop working. Following your instructions I cleaned it out, and it's now working again!

Awesome vid. For anyone else wondering the free spinning wheel in the front comes off by getting a flat blade screw driver under the whole plastic shell that spins. It pulls straight up with the wheel still in place. Then you can simply pop the wheel out by pushing it from behind with your thumb. Then you can take a pliers and pull the axle out of the wheel. You can even take it one step further and remove the grey plastic piece that holds the main swivel on the roomba. It’s just 2 more Phillips screws.

Thank you for this video! I got my Roomba from a neighbor who had basically forgotten his irobot roomba pet series in a damp garage for a few years, and also lost the charging station. After cleaning the thing, buying a new charging station, and then also a new battery, I still had that pesky frustrating "charging error 3" blinking at me. So the next and last step was to dismantle the whole stupid thing to see what was wrong with it. Which was, that on the motherboard the area around the charging nodes (?) was entirely corroded and needed a good cleaning. I think I nearly shed a tear when it finally started peacefully charging once I put it all back together. Now to strap a knife on to it! Thanks again for the video, it was nice to have instructions to follow (I think I have a slightly different model than yours, but the basics were the same) just to be sure I wouldn't end up breaking the damn thing. Cheers

Man, my little Roomba got flooded up to the gills during Hurricane Sally. I wrote it off as dead and never threw it away. After coming across your video, I think I can restore it to working order! The inside is much easier to navigate than I expected, and I'm so happy Roomba sells the modular replacement parts. THANK YOU!

Your video gave me the confidence that I could restore my Lego chomper back to his former glory. The brush motor had burned out one day when it was running on schedule and sucked up a dog toy with nobody home to dislodge it. So thankful to have it back in proper working order.

Thank you so much for this video! Was able to tear down the roomba, remove a TON of dust and dog dander stuff and discover that a few teeth in one of the plastic gears in the whisker motor had worn down to the point we needed to replace that motor. Easy peasy!

First, I'd like to thank you for this informative video. You clearly are very experienced, and this was both educational and fun to watch. I tried your trick of vacuuming the filter in my dust bin with another vacuum, and it worked really well! Roomba says to just bang the filter against the trashcan, but it does nothing, and then they say to replace them every 2 months. I feel like they are just trying to get another quick penny off their customers because my filter looks as good as new after vacuuming it out. What I was wondering: since this trick works so well, how would I know when it is time to replace my filter? Thank you!

The video helped me a lot to figure out how to remove the covers on the top and disassemble the whole thing. I had to tear my Roomba E apart because it sucked in water. I didn't realize that and flipped it over to clean the brushes and remove the dust bux. So some of the water ran into the Roomba over the motherboard. That lead to no function because it thought the cliff sensor was on (error 6). After cleaning the motherboard with circuit board cleaner from both sides everything was ok again.

Good video. I have an e6 model but the general construction is similar. We have a dog and a cat and I can't believe how much hair it sucks up and wraps around all the various parts. The dust bin gets emptied daily or at the most, every other day. About once a week I go through and pull out the rollers, the castor, vacuum off the filter. It's been a while since I removed the wheels to check them out but it's likely time.

I just fixed my 675 thanks to your video. However my problem was in the gearbox for the brushes. I didn’t see a use to replace it it seemed to be the gears were probably caked up with junk and they were. I removed the gearbox cover, pulled the gears out and cleaned up everything, relubed it all with a lube that doesn’t eat plastic as many will and it’s all going again. I was going to send you pictures but there doesn’t seem to be that feature here. Thanks for the basics

Do you know if it’s possible to swap a 614 motherboard with a 671? I have a working 614 that’s in great condition m, I was given a beat up 671 that needs $100 worth of parts to get it operational plus a deep clean. I love my 614 but I wish it had wifi so I can turn it on while I’m at work, the 671 has wifi so I was thinking of putting the wifi card in my 614 (if the motherboards are the same) or swapping the whole motherboard (if it fits) and tossing the 671 body.

Thanks I enjoyed your video even though it's not what I was looking for. Yeah I've been toying around withThese little contraptions for a few years picking them up here and there for $20 or five dollars depending. And it's fantastic how modular they are for the basic components like the wheels and stuff. I probably fixed about 15 or 20 of them and I'm not going to try to repair another one with Cliff center issues because that took me about 2 1/2 hours to replace. I've torn down every single piece of these units and there are a lot of fun if you like tinkering with mechanicals and robotics. Have you toyed around with the PS2 ports on some of the older ones, I would love to hack into them and change some of the voice commands and other things 🙂Anyway I enjoyed your tutorial and its unpracticed adventure into your Roomba it's like I was actually there helping you and discovering stuff also. Anyway thanks a lot for the video I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm subscribing to your KZbin channel.

Just give that black and white wheel a firm tug. After the whole little assembly comes out, turn it upside down. Then give the same black and white wheel a firm push. After that, I use a small screw driver to push the pin out of the wheel. That is where you will find the dust and lint that keeps the wheel from spinning freely

Hey mate! ggreat video - fellow tinkerer here. I'm genuinely dying to know whether the 675 or 679 or really any of those later 600 models have a place to plug in a DC or some other barrel charger directly into it? Have you seen that? I myself have before I could have sworn then only a few months ago found the official customer service forum by an employee post an image of a 600 model that resembled mine perfectly having a plug that could go directly into the wall outlet. I have a very hard believing the customer support made a mistake while double confirming it was a 600 late model and did have the port thus bypassing the home charging station via the 2 nodes. I don't see anywhere in this video on the board where the plug could be as a female or port connection but for the slightly older ones maybe? Have you evr come across this? I have been emailing support for weeks now and they are going out of their way to NOT say definitively for some reason. I think I get why but I'm asking them a direct question and they won't say no. which makes me think there might actually be a port on these older 600's from more than 5 years ago.

Maybe I just missed it somehow, but where in the video is the fan and fan motor part of the vacuum (that generates all the suction)?

In 6 series roombas, it's in the dust bin, under the filter.

Thank you! Question for you. I did a basic cleaning on my 590 (brushes, emptying the dust collector bin and cleaned small paper filter) I inadvertently dropped my paper filter in the trash can during reassembly and then used the vacuum. After it was finished cleaning I then dumped the collector bin and realized the filter was missing..🤦‍♂️. Now I’m concerned that vacuum motor will likely be full of dust & hair & dirt. I’m not sure I saw the vacuum motor on your disassembly. Can you tell me where that is found? Thx

Gosh I hope you can find one, but I don't have any special insight on what's available. I'm sorry.

@@VacuumWars No I found the filter in the trashcan but what I’m asking is where is the vacuum motor that I probably need to clean the dirt out of?

My Roomba 695 is 5 years old and I have never had to replace the filter. I use a soft toothbrush and dawn dish washing detergent and gently scrub it clean and rinse it thoroughly. Then lay it on paper towels overnight to dry completely. Good as new. Hope this helps.
