The thing is, if you have money, life in the Philippines is soooo much easier than anywhere else in the world. Except for the traffic of course that sucks. People are very chill and adapts well. Filipino people in general love making others feel welcome. Specially guests. That's the culture. We adjust so they would be comfortable. In other countries, they don't really care. I mean, they're nice but lol Filipinos go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable no matter how unpractical or uncomfortable they get. Heck, we used to offer our rooms to strangers and the fam would sleep together in one room lol. That's the way we're wired. Too bad when we go to other countries, the treatment is very different. It's sad sa totoo lang. Pero ganon tayo e. Nahahappy tayo and feeling validated kapag umuwing masaya yung bisita. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅฒ

Ray is quite an amiable person. He's witty, jolly and has love the Philippines as if he's not an American. It's hilarious but an honest truth about some Filipino families who are very closed knit up to the 3rd or 4th degree cousins or other relatives. But if you're living in the city like Manila, most families tend to be more independent because mostly are educated. We are glad that most foreigners have liked and loved our beautiful country and you won't get into trouble if you'll also be good to the Filipino people.

Hello from Urdaneta City, Pangasinan Province, Luzon, Philippines. I've been in the Philippines about 6 years. Originally from the US New Hampshire Seacoast. About a week before I leave the US. While living in Haverhill, Massachusetts. There was a drive-by shooting. 3 shots into the first floor level apartment. I am in the second level at the time. So, for me, it was a sign. a lot of vets came back to Subic Bay and retired because it's the biggest American military base outside the US since colonial time till the early 90s when Philippine Senate ousted them. Subic Bay was home or has been to probably millions of American soldiers. A lot of them have said when they were stationed there that it was more of paradise than a military base - sun, sea, beaches and beautiful girls...good life. that's why the highest concentration of vets are living there rather than in big cities like here in Metro Manila.

True that. My family migrated here in the states and Philippines is a way better country to live in if you have money. If you donโ€™t have money, itโ€™s very hard. Thatโ€™s why thereโ€™s a lot of OFWs working for their families.

I was totally surprised by the info I learned from the outtake at the end of this video. I never knew those details before that there are around 400 thousand (almost half a million) US Vets living in the whole Philippines. Mind you, we're not even counting foreigners (non-US Vets) from the US and from other countries that are actually living right now (who preferred to live, work and/or retire) here in the Philippines.

Quentin, fellow Navy brother, most restrictions are lifted now, if you are vaccinated and boosted! If not, you just need to do a few things! 1. One health pass 2. Take a PCR test before coming 3. Not needed, but I would still get travel insurance! As soon as I send most of my little saved property to my fiancee2wife, Charlie sister's house for us! I shortly send myself for Good too! Hope this helps! Best of luck to you & travel safe! Hooyah & Hua(Spent time in the Army too) God bless all! Yes, Si, Oui, Oo( tagalog and philipino for Yes)

It's a whole lot easier to get your disability claim approved here in the Philippines than back in the states. My friend was stationed in Subic back in the day, he moved to the Philippines probably 7 years ago and he got his 100% disability which is well over 3K a month. He said there's to much red tape in the states and it gets pushed through much quicker here.

With the upcoming COLA increases for 2022, 90% should pay quite a nice piece of change. If what you have coming in accommodates your needs, I would say go ๐Ÿ›ซ. I have a similar situation, but right now I'm currently rated at only 50%

Chuck, I'm a similar age as yourself. I'm a healthy guy & yet over the last winter I became very very poorly, so much so that I thought often about 'I'd give everything I had to have my health back' Fortunately I've recovered & got my health back, though i'm told my lungs will be scarred for life. What I'm saying is, we don't know what the future holds & so given the opportunity we need to live our life as we dream of, as we wish. Having enough money is a must, having more than enough isn't required.
