NOTE: STP is not on the VW 502.00 or 508.00 oil specification. "As per Volkswagen’s recommendations, you should only use the VW certified motor oils in your car. You can find the oil code on a sticker by your engine panel. However, if you can’t find it and remain unsure, look for it in your car manual."

I don’t think it would be a big issue. Just keep your oil clean over the life of the engine.

@@VagabondBuilds you want to use VW spec if you want to keep the car around forever with no issues. Non VW spec will cause buildup around the piston rings, these stick and eventually have oil consumption issues. The additive packages are completely different. What dark magic europeans do thay have this issue? I can’t say but it’s common across all european brands on basically everything 2016+. VW 502 is for fuels that had higher sulfur contents back in the day and then they revised it with 504 (iirc). I guess you could cut the oil change in half but you would end up with a lot of waste. Also issues wont crop up over night just long term 60-70k miles later and depending on driving habits could be much sooner or later. Tl;DR: non spec oil always causes deposits on the long term which then cause oil consumption issues.
