Hi all! Welcome back to another video where we have two RS4's on the ramps at the same time. Both had very similar mileage (50.000 miles ) . Silver RS4 comes in the beginning just for injector replacement and after a short diagnostic it turns out it's a big job ! Grey RS4 suffered overheating issues, which seems to be an easy job , but it turns out somebody who worked on the car before damaged bolts and it needed more work than we thought. And this is how it was done ...................................

Very insightful for me to see how the pros do it. Sincere thanks. BTW - This is the first time I’ve heard another one doing the wucka wucka wucka sound when cold start routine has finished. I own a 2014 avant rs4, just over 30,000 miles now it was a demo car and delimited by Audi at the factory by the men who nows best 👍it has had a 25,000 mile service at a main dealer and will soon be in for a full trans engine service, a bit early but I run it on 99 top fuel and it has pushed over 190 mph, it’s starts with the usual noise then backs down from the 1200 rpm to idle to a sweet burble, the gear changes at full on are so slick it’s awesome when changing down,that plip is pure music , the only fault it’s had is the thermostat and the hose on the front strut that needed a pump up those two jobs cost at main dealer £1200 the service including new plugs was £800 that’s not bad for 4 plus’s years of fun and a 56 day driving ban 🤪, I have had the pleasure of driving several amg cars even with upgraded performance, the only problem with them you can’t stomp the go peddle and keep them straight, if you want to go from A toB fast in the U.K. with loads of space behind you this is the beast to own, the torque vectoring leaves more powerful cars curbing themselves trying to follower it, it’s all achieved without turbines blowers etc that I know shortens the life on any engine, stay on top of the oil changes and it will serve you well, it’s classic engineering that puts the twat hat on anyone head 👍

One of the best sounding rs’s, unfortunately the engine is a bit problematic unless forged, mine is currently awaiting the delivery of a forged engine.
@imranmughal6336
@imranmughal6336 Жыл бұрын
Isn’t the B8 RS4 engine already forged from factory? And what problems are these you speak of?
@dan2fast4you21
@dan2fast4you21 Жыл бұрын
@@imranmughal6336 No it is not forged. The pistons are aluminium and are a bit of a weakness. The elephant in the room are the cylinder walls that are aluminium like the rest of the block, and eventually deform and cause oil consumption that these engines are known for and later on introduce piston wobble and this puts more load on the pistons and con rods. So as part of a upgrade cylinder sleeves are a must, along with better valves that in my case snapped and forged components like con rods.
@imranmughal6336
@imranmughal6336 Жыл бұрын
@@dan2fast4you21 Are you talking about the NA 4.2 v8? Is there a preventive measure one can take to avoid this? Surely if you’re using the correct viscosity of oil and doing your general maintenance when due there shouldn’t be an issue? Or is this engine just a ticking time bomb?

@imranmughal6336 Жыл бұрын
@VAG technic what’s your take on this?
@dan2fast4you21
@dan2fast4you21 Жыл бұрын
@@imranmughal6336 The engine is a great engine but it can be a bit of a roll of a dice. Yo see high millage ones out there, but you never know how hard they were driven up to that point. But as mentioned from my experience the engine block definitely misses cylinder sleeves, as this really has a cascade effect on many other components as mentioned before. On mine personally the intake valve of cylinder 5 snapped at 80.000km oil services were always done in time, but nevertheless I did notice a gradual increase in oil consumption especially on those sunday spirited drives, possibly adding 250ml for every 2 days of hard driving. What I’m telling you is what I have heard from engine builders that do perform overhauls on these 4.2 rs engines and see them on a weekly basis. I’m going to be receiving my new engine soon from them. Hopefully by xmas it will all be in and I would of performed the break in and will be able to share my 100-200 times and comment on stuff like oil consumption and so on. Prior to the engine blowing up my best time was 10.09 seconds for the 100-200 run with winter tyres and 100 octane fuel. stock is 11.66s on winter tyres on 95 fuel.

Aside from my concern about how many of these cars need engine-out work and rocker replacements, I had a question about a tweeting noise I hear when I'm on throttle in my car. Is this expected, or are there any known issues with these cars that produce this tweeting noise when pushing the car a little bit? I wonder whenever you remove the engines from these Audi cars (A6,A7, A5 or any), how you deal with A/C gas? Do you extract it first or those parts of hoses or parts, stays separate and you do not have to touch (I am sure that is not the case). I am interested in that part of job because I own a 2016 TDI A7 and one day will be doing water pump and that coolant housing for which the entire front cover need to be pulled out. At that time I would have to remove the front bumper, radiator, AC condenser and front bar. Please if possible, do show when you work on that Audi A7 which is parked outside.
@riskybisness
@riskybisness 2 жыл бұрын
Mechanic from New Zealand, see how they never fully remove the front bar but angle it outwards (when not removing engine). Thats to avoid breaking the A/C lines, its designed this way with flexible hose at that point of the A/C system. Good luck for your waterpump and with Audi my one tip is this. It should feel tedious, not hard, if it's hard you are probably doing it the wrong way.

Poor customers? With RS4's? I don't think so. Maybe they should be driving Fiat 500s.
