You know the pedal is good as soon as you see he's having fun playing it.

I had the original Kaluna and liked it a lot. My only issue with it was that it didn’t take a boost very well. Would get overloaded and flubby. Sure wish the voicings were foot-switchable on this one. Would have made for a very flexible drive. Still, the Kaluna is one of the most amp-like drive pedals I’ve ever tried. It’s a gem.

Most usefull rveview on this pedal I have seen. I also very much liked the effectrode Blackbird review you did 11 (!) years ago. You very effectively show the Blackbird touch sensitivity. Does the Kaluna come close to that? And although they are very different beasts, and the Blacbird seems one league up, I would still be curious about your opinion on how the Kaluna holds up next to the black bird? Both in terms of touch sensitivity and n tone versatility, as the Kaluna can maybe make up a lot of the missing option plethora of the blackbird with its extremely powerful post gain EQ stack? And maybe you also can comment on the Kaluna with respect to the Effectrode Tube Drive Overdrive in terms of tone, versatility and touch sensitivity?

That Chavel is sweet. Bright neck pickup is awesome. Btw Brett is that a db meter on the wall behind you? Cheers

How much time do you spend with a pedal before you do a video on it? Always seems like you’ve used it for years in your presentations. 🎸👍

Even better and more flexible than the Kaluna I. Have both and stacked they almost can make a complete tube amp obsolete, while the tone still remains dynamic and vivid, in front of an amp it can even improve already excellent sounding ones. The unique eq allows intense sound shaping and almost every setting is well usable, most probably the best (active) eq, I ever have experienced, even 0 or 10 settings work fine, but sound completely different, also because of the +/-12dB range, while Volume even allows below intense, but neutral unity gain settings, so you can also simulate a (usually not existing) low input and tame a too hot amp, but also boost one a lot. Plus, the pedal itself works very silent. The basic sound is nicely Plexi oriented, I would say, but with the eq you can also adjust very different amp characteristics. The only thing, you hardly get out of this pedal, are really bad sounds....

I don't understand why they didn't add a second footswitch to go from V1 to V2. I have the V1 and use a boost to get more gain. I would have got this, if they had the extra switch.Pity!

Bend over and make the switch

Run a clean boost before for more gain, after for more volume.
