Gosh, I love Val Rosing! He is one of my favourite singers of all time and nearly every time that I hear one of his songs for the first time, I start crying, he just always manages to take my breath away.

Probably. And you have to remember he was doing it like this as a direct contrast to what Formby's character subsequently did!

Al Bowlly couldn't sing ... Bowlly wished he could sing like this. Of course that doesn't stop all of Bowlly's fanboys today (with no taste) who are obsessed with his boring attempts at "singing" while real singers like Maurice Elwin, Val Rosing, Jack Plant, Arthur Tracy, Frank Munn, etc. are all ignored ... By the way, Formby wasn't a singer, he was a comedian, which is why all his records label him as such

Funny to see someone else singing a Formby in a movie. I don't like the changed lyrics, they don't flow, but that's probably to separate George's version from this.
