Hi -I have reviewed these tapes and Dikul's long version deadlift too.The wt's are real. Note he walks out the squat and reracks it. He owns a WR in the heaviest walk -2,200 lbs for 14 feet.The long version 460 deadlift(youtube) shows assistant add wt 3 times as he warms up to 460. Dikul is enormously strong,similar to Louis Cyr.Note in the deadlift his shins are against the bar , no straps. The raw bench is also a no spotter. He's saying to the challengers- try to beat that.

I don't think he's a fake. His videos of twenty years ago and even more recent show him tossing 180 pound kettle drums into the air with one numerous times. Also- he holds other world records for "tossing" an 80 lb steel ball and capturing it at the abse of his neck .Also, "juggling" high into the air 60-80 lb steel balls. That shows his massive strength right away .Similar to Louis Cyr in my opinion. He is a legendary strong man.
@Monctonite9 жыл бұрын
Just to reiterate- this man holds a world record in: a 2000 lbs yoke walk of I think 20 or 40 feet. Unmatched today in 2015. . He has a world record in kettle drum lifts -repeat throws forward of I think 12 reps with 190 lbs. These feats cannot be faked. Theere is nothing fake about him- and I think he is natural .These prodigies exist. .

@Monctonite15 жыл бұрын
well you cannot say that walking with 1440 lbs 50 feet is more taxing than walking 12- 14 feet feet with 2000 lbs -that's an extra 560 lbs on the shoulders to carry. Dikul holds the current WR in that particular type of strength event. He also holds records in juggling ( yes juggling) 80 lb steel balls .
@Monctonite15 жыл бұрын
The wiggling of the bar is directly related to the temper of the steel. York Olympic bars will bend and giggle -I know because I own a 405 pound set. Medium temper will be stiffer. The high quality tempered steel bars will flex and giggle severely - but will never get bent out of round.

Edit: I ment WPO - world powerlifting organisation. Also, let me add, that circust artists are frequently known to manipulate the weights they lift, there is simply NO PROOF whatsoever that these weights are real, it even says in the beginning of the vid that the weights liftet are an EDUCATED GUESS, In addition, look at Dikuls physique compared to real lifters such as Andy Bolton, Savickas and Brian Siders, he isnt even close to matching them.

He's the real deal. His mother died giving birth to him and his dad died during WWII. He grew up in an orphanage and he quickly fell in love with the circus. He was very talented and took up death defying trapeze acts. When he was 16 a rope snapped and he fell, breaking his spine. Doctors said he'd never walk again. Took six grueling years of training to be able to walk weakly. Now in his late 50's he's back the top, and he's a leading authority in Russia on spinal rehabilitation.

mr. Dikul man has made a few statements via exposition-no spotters and no limit lifts . He jerked and wiggled the bar in the deadlift on purpose because he held the massive weight for a few seconds -which was another statement,reminiscent of the great Dave Rigert who used to flip the bar overhead from a snath grip. Dikul was essentially showing off . Dikul did not do any limit lifts . He was capable of lifting heavier weights .

Honestly I think the bar is an olympic bar and the plates are real weights. The only thing I think is off is the estimation of the weights. The video itself produces no claim of weight and the spoken weight is in I'm guessing russian. So we won't know until someone who speaks this language translates the weight amounts. Then again, it could be possible he's incredibly strong. Why not? Too much disbelief in this world.

But this man made what we think to be impossible. The weights and bar may not be brand name, but I see these alot on pictures from Russian powerlifting contests. Although I'm not sure they're really 15/25/50 kg as one of the previous posters said. The bar doesn't have to be brand name either, they make all kinds of those. You can't save alot of weight on the bar alone anyway, the lightest I've seen that was full length, weighed 15 kg but those locks probably weigh another 3-5 :)

The weights on the bar seems too be real. The bar is bending far, and the gren plates are indeed 50 kg. The squat is 10 cm too high, but even then it is great lifting. 260 bench whit no pause is still strong, and the deadlift is unbelieveble, because the record in the superheavyweights is 408,5 kg. 460 kg is beyond all limits. I think it is possibel, What we need too kno is what bodyweight is this man.

And by the way when I say FAKE, I mean some of the plates - by using a mixture of real and fake plates you can get him to struggle and grince in his face - but in truth he is probably only lifting half of what he claims. Many powerlifters in Russia know he is a liar, that is why he will not compete.
@Monctonite14 жыл бұрын
hi Dikul is the real deal,similar to other strength prodigies like Louis Cyr and Mr Saxton .These people do exist,although rare. Note, the raw bench and squat without any spotter-indicating he could go higher with the weights and challenging others to do the same. The walk out and re-rack( no spotter) of the squat may be a world record. Who else has done that? Note the age, well beyond prime, yet incredibly strong. another sign of prodigy. No WR powerlifters( on drugs) are doing that at age52.
