I think temperature will not have an effect on insulators because the energy gap between the valence band and the conductive band is so big

Why valence electrons do not participate in conductivity
@mathOgenius
@mathOgenius 3 жыл бұрын
They do , In case of metals(Heat conductivity), thats why they are good conductor of heat.

@@mathOgenius but in this video you said that valence electrons do not participate in conductivity
@mathOgenius
@mathOgenius 3 жыл бұрын
thats electrical conductivity, not thermal , normally in metals half of the conduction band is filled so , they conduct too.

Sir, what does it mean to say "low conduction band of 0.7 eV and higher conduction band of 0 eV, +0.3 eV, -0.29 eV" with which band as reference they say this? even if its the ground state reference how can 0.7 eV considered lower while the rest as higher?? Kindly help me in clearing this doubt

That means when we use our phones which contained lots of semiconductor. As average temperature increases as we use then the semiconductor tends to increase it's conductivity. But if so, then isn't the higher temperature speed up the process of phone?🤣

there are more metal contacts and small wires, then semiconductors, also nowadays the semiconductor transistors are very small , like millions in one chip ,so the electron flow in then is not much classical so these theories does not apply much there.
