"The Spanish Error 404" is a series that looks into the economic crisis that struck Spain towards the end of the early 2000s, by visiting and analyzing one of its main causes - the property bubble. The series spanning multiple episodes consists of footage shot on site of some of the most infamous white elephants in Europe - missed investments that wasted either public or private money, where the latter often came from cheap credit offered by the banks before the crisis.
Each of the episodes tackles a different example of the property bubble era investments, slowly completing the picture of what exactly happened in Spain some 10 years ago. It's a story of foolish investment optimism, corruption and pure stupidity on behalf of both the private sector and the government.
Episode 6 of the series focuses on the abandoned F1 Valencia Street Circuit and Nou Mestalla - two incredible investments started in the 2000s. The first of the two was mothballed shortly after construction, with the latter standing half finished for more than a decade. Both of them serve as an eerie reminder of the "Golden Era" in Valencia, that ended abruptly in 2008.
The series is funded, written and produced independently, and presents a researched, albeit private opinion.

I can agree, the Mediterranean port setting was something special. It’s sad to see it all go to waste, but here is hoping that one day they will make this place have a purpose again. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the video, thank you for your support!

no way that was a decent circuit, it was just another generic and boring design from Tilke

Really well done video! It's truly sad that both projects have failed immensely at Valencia. It's just another one of those situations when politicians with bad interests match with bad timing and all the population has to pay for it.

I agree, it's especially sad to see such a giant scar on what otherwise is a spectacular city. All we can really do is keep our hopes up for this site to become once more integrated into the city, repurposed for actual use.

It's a sad sight to see this representative part of Benicalap being left dilapidated and forgotten to time. It would've been a perfect sight to really put this "new" part of Valencia on the map. Still, I envy the fact that you have the opportunity to live in the city much!

I'm glad you've enjoyed the video! Given that not that many people are interested in the dreary and abandoned, I'm not surprised that there is no wider audience, but hopefully one day these videos will reach a wider audience :)

It’s a sorry sight to see, but unfortunately it’s even harder to imagine them ever bringing it back given the state of disrepair the track is in.

Anyone that's been involved in or follows racing knows that it's a rich man's sport and that all teams lose money.

We're not speaking about the teams here, but rather the F1 as a whole. Let's face it - each an every race is an enormous promo event for all the sponsors, and that alone brings in good old cash.

The financial crisis of the last decade really showed the possible side effects of wild public spending in conjunction with easy credit, no doubt.

@ So many abandoned projects because of politicians betting on contracts. If we're going to keep it sports related, NOLA Motorsports Park is a great example. It's operational, but largely unfinished and underfunded. In 2015, we bid for an IndyCar race, with the promise of an additional 2.5 million in state funds to cover costs. It's better if you read what actually transpired, and see the net loss for yourself. It's fucking bad. As for the track, well it still suffers from poor drainage, unfinished garages, an incomplete apartment highrise, and it's missing the planned north half.

if u cant overtake in a long straigth, then what can u do in a short one ...
3 жыл бұрын
Can’t say for certain, but let’s look on the bright side - now you can overtake whenever you want, on foot of course!
@finnzimmermann8390
@finnzimmermann8390 3 жыл бұрын
Overtaking on long straights is dependent on DRS and especially a more powerful engine. This is actually quite boring because you will not see any overtakes in corners (because there are only few) and at the end of the race you will have the driver with the most powerful car on P1 and the driver with the weakest car on P20. There’s no space for surprises and entertainment. DRS overtakes are boring - and that’s a fact.
