"The Spanish Error 404" is a series that looks into the economic crisis that struck Spain towards the end of the early 2000s, by visiting and analyzing one of its main causes - the property bubble. The series spanning multiple episodes consists of footage shot on site of some of the most infamous white elephants in Europe - missed investments that wasted either public or private money, where the latter often came from cheap credit offered by the banks before the crisis.
Each of the episodes tackles a different example of the property bubble era investments, slowly completing the picture of what exactly happened in Spain some 10 years ago. It's a story of foolish investment optimism, corruption and pure stupidity on behalf of both the private sector and the government.
Episode 6 of the series focuses on the abandoned F1 Valencia Street Circuit and Nou Mestalla - two incredible investments started in the 2000s. The first of the two was mothballed shortly after construction, with the latter standing half finished for more than a decade. Both of them serve as an eerie reminder of the "Golden Era" in Valencia, that ended abruptly in 2008.
The series is funded, written and produced independently, and presents a researched, albeit private opinion.
