Valencia, will I ever get back (stuck in France)

Spent the month of November in Montpellier. Seemed like a year! Nobody smiles, nobody talks to you and every single time we walked to the place de La Comédie from our Airbnb, we took our life into our hands…between the electric bikes for the food delivery guys, the electric scooters, the regular bikes, people walking with their nose in their phone and literally just crashing into us and all of this is happening on the sidewalks - it was like chaos and not in a nice way. Now we are in Valencia…people smile, they talk to us, people stay on the sidewalks, cars stay on the roads, bike lanes everywhere, if someone happens to bump into you you they IMMEDIATELY say perdon and look like they sincerely mean it. Montpellier had quite a lot of areas that seemed a bit suspect - lot of trash around, LOT of panhandling and then not really that much to do - not for a month anyway, that’s for sure. Valencia on the other hand, is everything Antoanetta has been telling viewers in her videos and more. I almost hesitate to agree with how great it is because we are having a tough time finding a place to live. 😂 oh and for the last 2 weeks we were in Montpellier, the trains were disrupted because of a freight line accident so it was a bit of a…..well, let’s call it a cluster foo-foo shall we? From Montpellier, people were being rerouted to Paris so they could get to Carcassonne or Toulouse! It took us 9 hours to go from Bordeaux back to Montpellier because we were detoured to Paris Bordeaux to Montpellier is normally 4.5 hours. All part of the adventure.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I love Valencia and I'm trying to honestly describe it to everyone, but yes we do have many new people moving in. Apartments are less available. Btw how is Bordeaux? Looks beautiful.

@@antoanettanowenespanol Bordeaux is really lovely and well worth a visit. It has a completely different feel than Montpellier. We also really liked Toulouse.

Perpignan used to be part of Spain until the XVII century. It was dependent of the kindgom of Mallorca. They usually see themselves as French catalans. This might be the reason why there are so many people on the streets

asian food in general is not too available in valencia. odd because there is a sizable chinese population, but instead of opening chinese restaurants, there are many traditional spanish restaurants being run by chinese.

Why didn't you just fly back? Am I missing something? There are sone super cheap flights- like from Toulouse. I flew for €10 each way. I remember at the time in July, the trains were absolutely unreliable. A lot of people had problems with Renfe trains around then (myself included). I guess the same thing may have been going on in France then, by the look of it.
