@@valenpaladino I think his hands didn't get burned because his gloves took all the damage (Cass was wearing gloves too, but his look stronger, especialy considering he needs them to protect him while he works on his alchemy) :p But I was wondering about his hair too (I thought it was just something that happened when he was testing out alchemic recipes when he was younger)

TheTrueHDG I must say the idea of Varian wearing super strong alchemy-proof gloves at all times sounds very in character but I just feel like they added that part (and Cass' damage to her hand in contrast) for a reason. For what I've seen, everything that happens seems to have a deeper meaning later, they plan everything in advance. Or maybe I'm looking too much into it and he's just a protecting-glove-wearing nerd

Okay, I THINK I know why saying "You didn't give up on me, I'm not giving up on you!" worked. Hear me out. I think that the moonstone is somehow trigged by emotions, as stupid, freaking blue evil ghost tells Cassie in "Be Very Afraid". That being said, think back to Rapunzel and the Great Tree. Adira managed to knock Rapunzel out of the hurting incarnation by ramming into her, out of FEAR. Later, in the same episode, Cassie tells Rapunzel not to do the hurt incarnation but she does. Cassie reaches to touch her and burns her hand, gasping in shock and pain. Rapunzel snapped out of it alone, because she was worried and scared for her friend, fear again. Then in this episode, using the hurt incarnation AGAIN (let's ban this, shall we unless we REALLY need it, and that means someone's dying and there's no other way), this time to free Quirin. Varian tried to wake her up by slashing her with water and shaking her awake (WHY BOI? Did you not just see what happened with the water?!) Varian tries to wake her up, but finally manages to by saying his sweetest line ever. THAT snaps her awake, because, once again, he said it in fear. Not because he was scared of staying with her but of losing her. And last by not least, the fear rocks are from CASSIE'S fears in "Be Very Afraid". Once again, fear. I think that fear is a big contributor to the moonstone, especially when you think about it. The moonstone has to do with the night when people are often more scared than during the day. Bad things happen in the dark. Black is for evil and darkness, for fear. The moonstone is the opposite of the healing sun drop. It spreads around death and destruction. Also, fear. Fear must be somehow connected to the black rocks and the moonstone. Sorry, that was MUCH longer than I thought it would be. And, yeah, you should react to the whole season.

A lot of people are confused why Varian speaking to Rapunzel snapped her out of the trance to the decay incantation. I always assumed I was Cassandra's scream that snapped her out of the trance not her physical touch. So I assumed Varian speaking to her did the same, but then again... Adira had to tackle her in order to get her to stop the first time. Idk how it works😅

She's taking it out on Rapunzel because it's easier for her to accuse Rapunzel of taking things away from her than it is to admit that her mother didn't care about her any more than she cared about Rapunzel - to her Cass was an annoyance or something cute like a toy whereas as Rapunzel was a possessions something to own, not love. Basically she needs to actually say that her mother was a cruel and selfish woman, she'll be able to make peace with her past and her present if she actually says it rather than convince herself that she lost something that wasn't there. Besides, she had something lots of kids in her situation didn't have - someone willing to take her in and take care of her because she was simply a lost child, someone willing to give her love and a home.
