I mean, Yoko Shimmura(the composer of this, the original Mario RPG, Kingdom Hearts, Mario & Luigi series, Legend of Mana, etc.) has Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin listed as inspirations on her personal site(which isn't all to visually impressive, btw, and it's all in Japanese, for obvious reason. it's obvious it's just meant as a brief public profile), so that makes a lot of sense
