A fun and easy Valentine's (or Galentine's) day baking idea featuring bears. Who doesn't love bears?
These are chocolate cookies. They are slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
If you don't like candy hearts, you can substitute it for nuts or chocolate of your choosing.
fun tip: only fold in the arms of half of your cookies. Stack the bear with the folded arms on top of the bear with open arms to make it look like they're hugging. back hugs are cute.
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Set it aside.
2. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until it is light and fluffy
3. Add in egg and vanilla. Mix until it's incorporated.
4. Add the flour mixture from earlier. Mix until it's combined and a dough forms.
5. Roll out the dough.
6. Use a bear cookie cutter to cut bears. Place the cut cookies onto a baking sheet.
7. Fold in the arms of the cookies.
8. Refrigerate the cookies for 30 mins
9. Bake at 350F (177C) for 10-12 minutes
10. Immediately place the candy hearts on the cookies. (press the candy down onto the cookie. don't just place it on top)
11. Let the cookies cool
12. Once cooled, using royal icing or melted choclate to draw faces on the cookies
13. ENJOY! : )
