In this case, i don't think he was hiding behind her. He didn't think it was his child so he was stand offish. Ms Fuentes was trying to be the mediator since its clear he and Ms Hummel weren't on good terms. She was actually just letting it be known she was going to continue doing what she had been doing since he and Ms Hummel were too immature to act right.

I saw the episode Ms. Fuentes was on and it wasn’t just the two men. She slept her way through ALL SEVEN of the brothers from the same family. The one brother who was a possible father was the father. She’s notorious in her small town for sleeping around. Not just rumors either. Do enough homework and you find out she had EVERY one of those brothers tested for her 5 other kids not part of this episode. If she didn’t sleep with all of them, there would have been no need to test them.
