Welcome to the endless rabbit hole of Voiceplay, the "Theatre Kids of a cappella". 🙂 And yes, they are a cappella, and ALL the sounds you hear in the song are made by them, either with the voice, or stomping, or body percussion, or beatboxing, or in any other mysterious way... But it's just THEM, no instrument whatsoever. 🙂 The members of the group: - Geoff (pron. "Jeff") Castellucci, Bass - I don't think I need to explain how he looks. And you know how he sounds 😁! Anyway, at the beginning he's on the far right. - Layne Stein, Beatboxer AND Baritone. At the beginning he's on the far left. He can make sounds one couldn't even IMAGINE. In this video, even the creak of the wooden door (which doesn't exist in reality) is made by him 😁 - Eli (rhymes with "jelly") Jacobson, the bald tenor who's really the Asgard's God of Rock 😁, voice actor and with a huge range - Cesar de La Rosa, the bearded guy on the left at the beginning, Baritenor. He's usually the sweetest singer you can imagine, but he showed his Berserker side in this video 😁. - J None, the rapper. Baritone. He was a permanent member of the group, but is serving a 5 years period in the Navy, records with the friends when on leave. Geoff and Layne are founders of the group, even before they assumed the name of Voiceplay. Eli is with them from the very beginning od Voiceplay, and was frontman for at least one rock band before that. Cesar is the last member who joined the group in replacement for J None, but as you see they can easily co-exist. 😁 Choose ANY video from their channel. They're all good... at the very least. 😁 Have a good journey exploring their rabbit hole. 🙂 BTW, Geoff has his own solo channel, started during the pandemic. Very worth to explore as well 🙂 See you next time!

They do some minor mixing -- mostly overlapping voices when they couldn't be overlapped in a live performance. It's still Acapella anyway.

Davide covered most of what I was going to say so I’ll just make a few additions. All of the backdrops (and I believe even the door) were digital, created by Eli in Unreal Engine which is used in the game and film industry. But they did not film green screen. They filmed at a studio that had wall size LED screens that they performed in front of. A few years back they did another Viking piece, My Mother Told Me, featured in the Assassin’s Creed video game as well as the television program The Vikings. Most of the costume pieces and even the facial tattoos were copied from that earlier video. This time they added runes to some of the tattoos that spell out in Voiceplay. J, the rapper, was home on leave when he did this as he’s currently serving in the US military. When they did My Mother Told Me he was still a permanent member of the group and they featured a different guest artist. I really like the fact that it starts out with him staring across the water as if he’s returning home. I’ll be checking back to see if you cover more of them. And as others have said Gc has his own solo channel.

Yeah...us too. XD I'm glad you found these guys. Suggest you might also enjoy their covers of Hoist the Colours, Nothing Else Matters, My Mother Told Me and Seven Nation Army, just to start with. I really enjoyed watching how much you enjoyed this song. Voiceplay is one of my favorite groups and they always know how to get to me on an emotional level. It is one of the reasons I prefer them over most other a capella groups (although Home Free is slowly winning a place in my heart despire my not being the biggest fan of country music). I hope you keep reacting to Voiceplay and I look forward to seeing those reactions!

Iam from sweden and living just about 3-4miles from Valhalla...when i hear this song my wikingblood is pumping strong...proud of my heritage....native swede, viking blood in my veins....
