Excellent tutorial. IMO the hidden factor plays second fiddle to the space saving aspect of submerging chests. With this tutorial I got the idea of burying my chests, but just enough so they can be seen slightly elevated above the flooring. Flooring can go in normally with the lid of the chests visible. Saves a ton of space, especially in smaller outposts, like those built just to shelter a portal.

Fun video. The final hidden chest under the tree stump might work less well if your adversary has their video setting for foliage turned all the way down.

How to hide your loot in a cooperative PvE ONLY game... Why would you need this? If you don't trust your teammates, don't play with them. If you just want to hoard stuff, then YOU are the one people shouldn't play with. I play with a small group. I only know two of them (online friends, never met irl). The others I just met in Valheim. We share everything. We farm together and even if some are not present, there will be enough materials for them to gear up when they do come in.

I play solo for now. Doing these hidden chests would be hiding the chests from myself. But creative nevertheless. One question though is why do the Gate object when placed at a gate takes damage over time from weather? It is not part the fencing?

i think its a bug with the weather dmg to the gate and needs to be fixed

@@porklover5973 I’m not at the point as yet to get Iron or iron gate. It is likely a bug with the Wooden Gates as no other wooden fencing structures take dmg due to the environment.

If you put a roof over it, it will not take weather damage. You probably already know this but hey, there you go if you didnt.

@@FADWC Thanks for thinking of that idea. I’ll probably use it in this specific case. However, I noticed something last night playing which made me unsure the gate taking dmg issue is a bug. But hey it could still be. I return visited a housing compound I had build earlier when I started the game that is also completely fenced and has 3 wooden gates and further from the sea. No roof over the gates exposed to the weather at this site. And what I noticed is that the wooden gates here hasn’t taken any damage at all and I probably haven’t been there in well over 12+ day cycle in game. Zero damage there. But the same wooden gate at my current housing compound location close to the sea, all wooden gates take damage and that is very noticeable in just one day cycle in game. 2 different locations, one takes damage and the other doesn’t. Only difference I can tell is location to the sea. But then the gates at back of the fenced compound much further from the sea takes as much daily dmg as the ones closer to the sea. So I don’t know right now. I’ll just put a roof over it for now.

@@Kysen none at the moment. I am currently at the troll wave but I know that there are much harder ones to come like the Drengyr and dragon waves. Not sure if building a mote or tower defences are worth it or a waste or time etc
