Having used carts entirely too much, the important things to remember: (1) The weight of the cart matters. You can pack it full of light things and its easy enough to pull around, but fill it with stone and you're going to have a slow time. (2) The cart travels much better on flat ground. Clear and flatten a path between your mining outpost and your main building and your trip will be much easier. If you have to go up or down a steep hill, put in switchbacks. (3) The cart takes damage when it hits potholes, tree stumps, and such. Keep an eye on its health and repair it after every trip. (4) Carts can be loaded onto rafts or boats with some effort; this effectively increases the hold size. (5) Carts make for a nice containers. You can even load up a cart, attack it to pieces, and it will leave behind crates you can move around for decoration.

Haha I got tired of both options and turned off the portal restrictions. Oddly enough I'm still paranoid and only carry back the allowable weight each time, so I still go back and forth alot.

Haha I think a cart is best used to as a chest next to a portal in your base to unload quickly as you come through encumbered . Awful to move across land but my friends love them lol. They build ramps and launch them over our walls etc. Fun to send off cliffs in the mountains full of silver

Yeah I’m not a fan of moving the carts around. I mainly use it to hold lots of wood or stone, or as a dump box.

Using a CART can be a pain sometimes, but if you make a path in can make it a lot easier. I always make a path and also do a bit of flattening (not too much) to try and make it easier. Good series, by the way. I am enjoying watching it.

A lot of times when I'm going from base to a new mining operation, I like to clear and flatten terrain as much as is feasible along the way, because those black forest cart struggles are notorious and a little roadwork goes a long way to making it better.

I feel the pain with the cart endless trips back and forth, currently using the modifier to portal anything, making this play through a bit more fun.

Unless you empty your Recycle Bin every time that you delete something, that footage you deleted is likely still in there. Also, to answer your question "Or is it just me who is useless?" The answer is yes. Lmao. In all seriousness, you just need to use the cart more and figure it out. When you're having trouble getting up a slope with it, start shimmying. Basically just run zig zag up the hill. It is also highly recommended to use the Hoe to make the ground a little flatter. Doesn't have to be a full blown road, but just enough to make the slopes not so steep. In that regard, try to initially find a path to where you are going that doesn't have any steep slopes. You didn't need to ditch the stone to get back to base in this video. I've moved WAY more weight through worse terrain many times. You just have to know what you're doing.

yeah checked but I do like to empty the bin, because I have a lot of stuff that I don't use in my vids so it just goes straight to the bin and then emptied, guess I learnt to double check what I am deleting lol

Try to find the trader and get the special belt, it makes it a lot easier. I take my hoe and make a road at the same time I use the cart.

Carts are great for wood gathering I think. Yes you do need to be within 30 meters of pets for breeding to happen.

@ZomZeroBuilds yeah best time is when you are farming or crafting. Or like me wood farming near the base so that I'm close enough. Also fyi if you feed a pet before bed and then sleep they are insta hungry in the morning... so best to wait to feed them once awake.

You know something? There should be a massive highway built from north to south in Valheim it would be easier to travel with your "cart" and other supplies too XD Wonder if this has ever been done? Also I had trouble with the cart when I first built one too. If it wasn't getting hung up on a bush or something, it would always be a rock or something else. Mine always looked trashed by the time I made it home.

Haha you always make a hard time for yourself. If i decide to stay in bronze age for a longer period of time I make a path between my mining camp and main base. Takes 20 mins but saves like 5 mins a trip with the cart and you can max out a higher load inside the cart instead of just throwing an entire buildings worth of stone away lol.

If you need a bit of coal, just put on some meat on the fire and let it burn. It wil gife you coal.
