Basically, the rest of the story is of the girl getting used to her new situation, getting to know her foster parents, her learning to read, and the horrors of being a wartime jew (as her foster parents house one to keep him safe). Theres more to it (and a good reason why the book is titled "The Book Thief"), but I don't want to spoil it. Warning though, the story is both heart warming, terribly sorrowful, and wrapped up in a bittersweet package.
