There's no death loop to be honest. You have gear available to you prior to ever going there that entirely negates it from the swamp. You just need one piece. Also negates spear throwers. Makes the area trivial. When you don't know that it's painful. But once you do it's nothing.

My son and I did a personal challenge of no map/no portal. We did complete it by finally beating the final boss. Mistlands came out during our gameplay, but since we didn't start with that boss available, we just considered our challenge complete with the Plains boss. It was brutal, but you know, after all that time playing without any map whatsoever...when we returned to 'normal' gameplay the map almost felt like cheating to us. haha

My anxiety kept building during the entire video as you struggled through the Swamp and Mountains with Meadows level food! 🤣 So happy to finally see some Sausages and Muckshake at the end there! Food is literally the only way to boost your characters strength (hit points and stamina). Glad you are enjoying the experience. Yes, Valheim is very much a Survival Preparation game. Both for food, gear, and buffs (rested!) but also for exploration strategy (portal placement, base and outpost location for resource processing, playing defensively to minimize the effects of death).

To your point, I generally probe the next biome before I tackle the previous boss. I try to have turnips (and therefore the cauldron upgrade and sausages/turnip stew before I beat Elder. And as soon as you get blood bags, you can make a frost potion and go looking for onion seed and gather some freeze glands and wolf meat. With BogWitch this may have changed a bit since I think you need iron for the new cooking stations. This can also be done by killing Orders at night who sometimes drop iron ore. I almost prefer it that way to keep the raids manageable.

I can totally feel your pain 😂. Recently, me and my 3 friends play Valheim every night, and let me tell you, this game doesn't miss a chance to humble you. We finally found the Elder's base and, in our infinite wisdom, decided not to set up a portal. We started the fight at night, and of course, the Greydwarves pulled up like it was their party. We got wiped. Next day, we gathered everything for a portal, set one up at our base, and sailed on a raft to the Elder’s spot. Halfway there, a serpent decided we looked like lunch, and guess what - bye-bye portal supplies. Tried to recover our stuff, died… tried again, died… tried again, died. After that, I just hit Alt+F4 and called it a day. 😂😂 You can see all of this chaos in my last live stream!

2 tips: 1. Dig straight trenches around your base or anywhere really, to have a square bit of land to retreat to, as most mobs cannot jump over it. 2. Dig the dirt away around copper and silver nodes, then you will only need to hit the actual node a few times and the whole falls apart. This will save you a ton of time and repairing your pickaxes. Use your bone pick axe for this (from the first boss) as you can fix this one at Wooden Benches that have a roof. Happy hunting, I love the video!

I agree with everything you said. The reward for learning the ropes in this game is amazing and so is the progression. But you do have to learn it, indeed, and pay attention to detail. (For example, the “wet” status in Swamps makes you regen health and stamina 50% slower and it impacts why it feels so much more difficult, apart from just because it is lol). There’s nothing I love more than finding a new enemy, learning their attacks, timing, best weapon for, and just becoming better than them and start to slay them every time easier and easier. Parrying the attacks and having them done in 2-3 hits, picking up a new item and seeing all the new unlocked things for the first time… I’m having one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. ❤ Almost on the last biome now :(
@JonnyShrimp

as cringe as this feels to say, i am basically valheim god, ive been fortunate enough to get a large extended friend group into the game, and every time, im accused of cheating in some way. to this end theyve even had me reset my character and start from scratch valheim is as easy as youd like it to be, especially with the addition of the mage class in the fairly recent present the deep arcane secrets to how im nearly deathless in valheim is, max stamina food, understanding what enemies are weak to, and dodge rolling / parrying theres a number of things to cover so ill try to be as brief as possible with each one, starting with stamina foods health is meaningless when stamina is king, when you run out of stamina you will get overrun, so unless you want to carry 10 stamina potions and 20 tasty meads (something i actually did do in pre nerf ashlands because holy shit, the way there were so many enemies i couldnt see the beech was absurd.) i have even tried playing heavy into health, but the second youre out of stamina combat stagnates and youre on the back foot every time, praying you dont get wiped out in two hits, regardless of how much health and block force you have, so 3 stamina foods is always the go to, it enables you to always have the ability to fight, to parry and to dodge enhancing this i use the fenris armor, the speed boost is a liberating feeling that even hardcore mages in the community like "professionalmage" (check out his youtube hes hilarious) admit is one of the most fun valheim experiences. and this comes from someone who hates playing the "warrior" weapons, usually i would use the askvin set, and the cape from the ashlands, but i just love how the fenris armor looks far too much to give it up moving into weapons, i am always carrying 1, a bow with 100/200 arrows, 1 sledge hammer (blunt damage is the most universally strong damage types in the game) and an atgeir (same story, and the aoe from middle mouse is also incredibly strong, i soloed the queen with nothing but an atgeir to clear ads and a mistwalker) always know what youre going to fight and bring the correct weapons for it. in the mistlands for example i used krom a lot to deal with seekers out in the wilds, one parry and a stab to the rear (enabled by stamina foods and the fenris armor speed boost) and i could kill a seeker in two simple uses of the mouse3 attack, of course, i carried other weapons just go to the valheim damage wiki and it tells you what is weak or immune to what, and by making an effective "loadout" for each biome, you dominate without even having to try, especially with three stamina foods. even deathsquitos are a joke when you just use an atgeirs mouse3 attack on them, i have rarely died to them since my first playthrough and then of course, you have your bread and butter, learning about dodging and parrying, i mean if you really want to you can just dodge roll a deathsquito attack, making them a joke you cripple yourself by not learning. i mean for the people who use max health armor a sword and a shield, they all go for a round shield, for example there are three types of shields in the game, tower shields which are the best for blocking (which is what these people always do) round shields that are a strange / useless (in my opinion) mix between that and the next type of shield. and then finally, the best type of shield, of which there are only three, bucklers, which give you a higher parry bonus than most weapons, essentially meaning enemies you parry are stunned for longer these are my "secrets", i promise you if you spend a little time learning about these parts of valheim the game becomes massively more enjoyable, i hope this helps someone, good luck

Two suggestions- That first merchant you found is sitting in front of a small table. You should go take a much closer look at that table. And you need better food. @@JonnyShrimp Some specific info, since its important to your progress. The cycle- Find a carrot seed. Plant the seed. Get 1 carrot. Plant the carrot as a seed carrot. Get 3 carrot seeds. Plant 3 carrot seeds, get 3 carrots. Plant 3 carrots as seed carrots and get 9 seeds, and so on. Once you feel your carrot harvest is large enough you can start replanting a third of them as seed carrots and keep the other two-thirds for cooking. I suggest that the first time you have a large enough harvest to start eating them that instead of planting 1/3 of them as seed carrots and eating/cooking 2/3 of them you only eat 1/3 of them and keep the other 1/3 to plant as seed carrots once that first set of seed carrots finishes growing, along with planting the seeds from that seed carrot crop. That way you wind up with (for example) 25 seed carrots and 75 actual carrots growing at the same time, so you always have new usable crops coming in. Those numbers give you a profit of 50 carrots per cycle to use for cooking. Same general principle for other crops. Obviously starting with only a few seeds it will take several cycles of growing and replanting to work up to whatever crop size you feel you need so some patience and attention to crop times is needed before it gets going properly.

I just started playing and I tried to play Valheim like a do most other games, especially in combat, lots of sprinting, rolling, jumping....I had a really really bad time early game :) When I learned how to lay off the Shift and Spacebar keys, things got easier'ish.

It's amazing how the most hardened and experienced Valheim veterans can quickly become overwhelmed and killed. This game does not go easy on reckless players. *the root armor and the feather cape are two of the biggest game changers for me. Root makes things like deathsquitos a minor annoyance and feather cape made the Mistlands more bearable.

I'm not a big gamer, in fact I'm not particularly great at gaming, but I like playing. When I have time off, I'll spend an hour or two a day playing (most likely a survival/base building/management game) but I honestly don't think Valheim is that hard. I think you just need to be prepared to enter certain areas, and figuring out what prepared looks like is the fun of it all. Like I've been playing for a long, long time and I've just now been able to enter the Swamps without dying right away. Like I said, I'm not a great gamer, I'm also impatient, and play really, and take a very very long time to advance in any game, probably because I play so little at the time, because I'm not that great, and also I'm a coward and don't want to have to fight certain bosses.

To deal with the swamp, get Ancient bark, and make yourself "root mask",,, this will seriously stop the poison problem.

The root mask offers less poison resistance than the poison resistance mead and the effects do not stack, so I would recommend making yourself an iron helmet, which is the one piece of armor that doesn't reduce your speed. The root halbreck then gives you resistance to piercing, which is reduces damage from archers to almost nothing. Keep the troll pants and any cape and you're well equipped for the swamp.

There is no set order for doing the biomes or killing bosses. I often hit swamp enough to get an iron pick - then go get silver in mtns before returning to swamps. Good food and meads are key to a good life. with a few exceptions - there are no set bonuses - mix and match armor pieces. enjoy the first time. If you have not finished the game - you should continue . If you have seen one biome - you have only seen one biome.

Past the initial learning hurdle, the game is actually VERY easy. Give it 30-50 hours and you should be doing fine. Little challenge to be had past that if you follow the game's rules.

I don't think you've mentioned taming. Tame a couple of 2 stars wolfs, let them breed and take them with you, whenever you feel you might get overwhelmed by enemies. And stop killing trolls, they are our friendly puppies. lol

The points about preparation are it. The game is much easier if you take it extremely slowly and deliberately. But it's a test of patience to see who can do that.

hardcore doesn't really enhance the experience, i use mods to add enemy variety and crank the difficulty in the right places so there's always a kind of risk in all biomes, on top of that increasing all enemy movement/attack speeds to like 1.4x, i think that above all else makes encounters with enemies feel more dynamic and combat feel more fluid and i'd recommend that if you start to get bored, def complete the game normally first

Valheims difficulty also depends a lot on luck. If you just once run in a group of draugers with a 2star archer on your first time in the swamp , you'll die several times just to get your stuff back and im not even gonna talk about how frustrating it is if a 2star troll joins your first solo elder fight. Obviously it also depends on skill but what u gonna do with a lvl1 bronze eitgeir against a 2star troll

the thing with Valheim is everything has to be taken slowly, like veeeryy slow, the game was designed to have a slow progression, the restricting ore transfer through teleport is kinda bs for me because the Ocean biome is meh so I just cheat my way for that but I enjoy every hour of it, this is the first game I play that i built a base in every single biome, and not just simple wood square base but an actual tower defense base, and this is probably the first ever i ever decorate in any survival game.
@vaschomadafath9505
@vaschomadafath9505 Ай бұрын
also I can understand the frustation of quiting in mountain biome because it can "lock" your progression if you die at the top of the mountain and left no frost protection item in base, maybe comeback with a few friends it will help alot.

You do know that at least two more areas exist that you didn't really do and maybe a third one is out I have not been keeping up and Valhiem but I did decide to try it again.
