As a game designer I have to say that this was really impressive, I love the meaning behind every composition choice and the small details of environmental storytelling you placed to give its own identity. Bravo

I honestly think Iron Gate could do wonders for the game if they had people like Smitty come in and build stuff like this as a template. The houses and little keeps/docks you find are neat but this would be epic to raid in the vanilla game!
@psantosd12 жыл бұрын
Right? You find this structure and instead of the hammer at the top you see an unique glow and realize that must be an unique weapon. Then you have to conquer the fortress and reach the top.. A few things like this sprinkled throughout the game would be awesome

Definitely. Maybe even some quests/adventuring stuff to do. I mean, someone must have once lived here.

That would be sick. Also would help the fact that updates roll in stupid slow for this game. Even just small filler updates that are just something like “added new structures to the mistlands” or even all the other biomes would honestly be great. I think meadows and Black Forest specifically could really benefit from added interesting structures like this.
@jansmith36132 жыл бұрын
This has to be the best mistlands build ever! I hope Iron Gate sees it and gives it the attention it deserves. You have such a talent for decorating without it feeling cluttered or chaotic beyond the normal clutter of a working space. Keeping the variety of colors to a minimum keeps it feeling serene and more like a true dwarven build and less like a 'disneyland'. I could never replicate this in a million years, so you'll just have to come and build something like it for me. :)

"Best" is definitely questionable since Mistlands is still fairly new. It's a cool build but calling it "the best" is a bit much.

This is the most impressive, and artistic build I have seen. You incorporated nearly every architectural feature black marble allows. I love building Dwarven keeps and I spawn in a few Dvergers to keep it safe after I leave. I thought I had done a few epic ones but I was wrong. nothing compares to what you have done here. Out of the hundred or so of these I have seen you have my vote for the best fortress.
@00Shazbot002 жыл бұрын
Monstrous build! You made use of every part of that mountain without overdoing it and losing the mountain in the process, drowning it in marble. I love the HEIGHT you achieved in the structures without making it feel square and boxed. The cinematic was a pleasant surprise with the added NPCs as the world of Valheim feels all to empty sometimes, especially with larger constructions.
@smittysurvival2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Martin! Yes it was totally a balance between building into the mountain without overdoing it with marble. I feel that dwarves would have a certain respect for the rock and I think that needs to come through for a dwarven build! Haha the NPCs were a fun addition though! I hope we get more friendly NPCs in the future!

One of the best builds I have ever seen, and definitely the best ever using marble. The great stairway reminds me of the stairs leading to Cirith Ungol in LotRO, and the build certainly has Moria vibes, better than anything 'dwarven' yet. Adding the Dverger was a great idea. I wish they would give us vines in vanilla, they complete builds so much :(

Yes! LOTR is one of the biggest sources of inspiration I pull from. Particularly when building dwarven inspired builds, Moria is has to be at the top! Yeah the vines are a really nice addition. Hopefully they’ll be added in the future!

An alternate concept for the high forge instead could have been a shrine to their god. Could have made a massive humanoid statue. Holding a hammer in one hand and a pick axe in the other or something fun like that. Idk how much you have dabbled in building figures and statues in this game or if it’s even really possible but I thought that would be very cool to see. it would have fit the fantasy trope and massive stone structures pretty well. Edit: You made a shrine 30 seconds into the video after I commented… *facepalm*

Well i think in Minecraft there is basically the same diskussion going. Of course you could put in highly developed builds into the world, but it can have the effect on players to be discouraged from building themselves. Basically if the first structure you find in the woods looks 10 times better than the one you could create right now, than why bother? My first ever base in the game was one of those barn or churchlike buildings, which i fixed up, later expanded and organically grew my base around it. If that thing would have already been perfect, i would have just moved my stuff in and be done. Though as centerpiece for a bossdungeon i could see a structure like this.
