The funny thing about the Great War is that people still had morality back then. Prisoners of war weren't slaughtered, many were treated relatively well according to the records. And lets not forget the first Christmas of the Great War, were both sides laid down their weapons to celebrate the holiday with each other.

Jimbo55151 Well that only happened during WW1, it wasn't linked to it. I don't think. The whole thing started in 1908 and lasted until 1920... Although I guess the war played a small part in the overall thing? It was the Turkish government wanting to expel the Americans living in the Ottoman empire or something like that.

My great uncle gave me a 1914 US Military issue bolo (knife). It was the artilleryman's side arm, It was designed to split German helmet with a single blow. This one had been verified to have been in combat in Europe during WWI. I often wonder at the heartbreaking stories it could tell. No real point to my story just a neat connection

They weren't given much of an option. If they didn't they would be shot by an officer for cowardice in the face of the enemy. So it was face certain death by your own officers or face possible death at the hands of the enemy.

99bulldog well... it was less that and more you can do 3 things. 1, HOPE that the machine guns miss you. 2, HOPE that if you return to the trench the officer is a wimp, or 3, HOPE that the enemy advances before you do and you kill them all. the only thing you could do was hope you don't die.

I learned more about the French in WW I in one video than I did in my 3 years of highschool American cultures. I need to recommend this game to all my history buffs. It's for morale, giving the soldiers courage so that the soldiers don't chicken out when charging into battle. An even worse idea is the French army uniform, if you noticed is blue and red which makes them stick out like a sore thumb.

The French uniform during early WWI was a leftover of the 19th century, when everybody loved dressing up in bright colors during battle. On the other hand, the French were also the first to adopt a steel helmet.

Mikkael Monzon He didn't quit, he was fired. Apparently the school hired a bunch of "Helpers" for the teachers they wanted to get rid off [READ: DIDN'T WANT TO PAY]. A number of months later the senior teachers including Jesse were called into the Principal's office and told they were fired and they had basically trained their replacements, who were ok with being paid less than their predecessors. When I heard this I had no trouble believing it as this shit happens all the time. In retrospect is must have happened to at least five of my favourite teachers when I was in high school, as they just up and left very quickly only to be replaced with shit younger "teachers" that knew jack shit about what they were teaching. The best and most capable teachers get sacked and replaced with worse and less experienced teachers. Fuck the education system.

Straga27 He can't have been "replaced by a younger teacher". How old do you think he is? Around 30, and he's been doing this KZbin stuff in the last 5 years. Before that he claims to have been "voice acting", since he only mentioned that during his early KZbin days. He can't have been teaching for more than a couple of years (most as internship), and if then he was replaced it was either due to ineptitude or cutbacks. If it was the later, he could have easily found another teaching job in one of the states. He studied to be a teacher and he gave it up in a couple of years. That is NOT an awesome teacher, and that was the original statement of this conversation.

EVERYONE READ UP Jesse has the best timing in the world. He probably did not plan this (hint hint nudge nungde), but he uploaded this series 1 day before the 100 years anniversary of the assasination of the Austro-Hungarian Warchief in Sarajevo, which started this war. I suppose that's how it is in America, but since Australia played a big role in WW1 ( being forced to help England, England screwed up so much it got many Aussies killed) yeah ww1 is a big deal in England and Australia. On a side note it is nice WW1 is finally being represented in videogames, yeah I'm sure there is few other examples but this game does it the best It seems. America will learn about something they were only involved in at the very end of this war.

As much as I want to watch this series, I'm definitely not going past the first episode. I'm pretty sure I'll only resist a few days before caving in and buying the game at full price. I'm already predicting a tragically sad story, especially considering the military woes of the French during WW1. Emile and Karl are going to end up shooting at each other in some sort of heart wrenching fashion before this is all over. Edit: Needless to say, I was not finished the video. Coalman yeah i know, even though nazi didn't exist on ww1, it's just weird seeing the contrast of the two, wolfenstein being a "arcade-ish" shooter where you just kill nazis (a more child-like imagination for a storyline) with a "realistic" graphic, while valiant hearts is based on actual history, and have more emotional vibe to it, yet it has a very colourful and cartoon-ish art style.

Did you have to tell that Ubisoft gave you this for free. With all their extremely negative Press in the last couple of Weeks because of the W_D Drama and the downgrading of PC Versions for WD and Farcry 4 this is not a good thing. Also these Free Giveaways from Company's what is the point are they trying to sell out to the KZbin Channels now. Why would channels who easily make 6 figures a Year hell some make 7 figures in half a year need their games for free. Still going to enjoy it. This is one of my favorite eras in history. Napoleonic tactics and ideas clash with modern technology the likes of which had never been seen before, and technology won, changing warfare as we know it forever.

1:28- In England, they even made their own equivalent of Freedom Fries (But with violence and much more serious). - German immigrants got attacked due to fear of them as saboteurs. - The royal family changed their german name (Saxo Gotha) to english one (Hanover). - German Shepherd changed to Alsatian. - Daschhund got massacred. It happened in US that they changed Hamburgers to Salisbury Steak and Frankfurter to Hot Dogs or anything not german.
