Additionally it amazes me the plot armor Rae had in this run. Half the time she doesn’t even look at things that need to be checked as anomalies (the anomalies in window reflections, seat patterns, signage, etc) and she still manages to make the right choice by accident.

I'm surprised Rae beat the game given she didn't really check everything. Some anomalies have audio indicators so it's obvious. The person below the chair was a good idea - bc anomaly was located at a supposedly empty row - but maybe a little hidden to the point that players should actually check each row carefully. Other ideas are superb. Gave me goosebumps on jumpscares. I might have screamed if Rae looked behind while she was running for her life and chairs moving as obstacles. I feel like the lore is that the siblings were ran over by the train given the ending 2 scene shows them strolling around the railway and the operator announcing that the train stopped due to an injury. Rae should definitely try "The Exit 8" after this. It's a similar observation game but punishes heavily for not checking everything.

What makes no sense in terms of the lore of this game is this: clearly the cart lady and the doctor are also ghosts as they were part of the train people like the dead kid and his dead sister, but the security guard on the train isn’t a ghost since he’s looking for the dead brother and sister? And you aren’t since you didn’t go with them? None of it makes sense and honestly the story kinda sucks.

Ok hear me out: I think the train was a kind of purgatory and everyone we see is either an extension of the train or a dead/dying person trapped there. All the other people on the purgatory-train disappeared when it stopped except the MC, Naoki and his sister so they were just projections just like the train itself (and that's why they could be part of the anomalies). If they had died in a mall, the scene probably would've been a mall filled with fake shoppers modeled after the real shoppers who had been around. The main goal of the purgatory is to keep dead and dying people trapped there indefinitely, looping in what they think could be real life. Maybe it feeds off of them? Or there is a sick kami that takes them over? That would make sense why the ghost gatekeeper had green eyes- he could've been a dead person who the train won over! Anyway, I never would've even thought deeper into the story if not for your comment so thanks!
