After using the new range of paints i have to say I'm largely satisfied with the results! The only issue i have is that many of the metallics are very thin and more transparent. This is great for airbrushing but requires a lot of extra effort when applying by brush.

Here's to hoping my local hobby store gets some of these, unfortunately we don't seem to have the biggest painter side of the scene around here, mostly just people gaming, lots of unpainted stuff, so paints aren't a priority to restock or replace too quickly. I on the other hand am mostly the stay at home and paint at home, since I have issues reliably getting around or having time to schedule games and stuff.

I didn't had the opportunity to try the new formulas ranges (expecting to buy most xpress soon) but it will happen nevertheless. I expected to get direct reference replacement but it seems that, for instance, the game air range has new ref and also expended (ie: toxic yellow previously game only but now game and game air). I check the site and can only find color chart with new ref, no matching table available. I think such a reference document to be more than welcome (including cross range matching). Anyway, keep the good job, competition rises the level lately which is good for everyone 😊

Suggestion: little labels on the bottom with the number and name of the paint. To make sorting them in paint holders simpler. Also, just grabbed a purple in this range. Very nice. Reminds me of the old Humbrol model masters colour.

I bought some preview sets at the SPIEL in Essen and I am really sold on the quality of the new VGC and VXC. Just one small question: I bought the four-color VGC Blue set and the Light Skintone sets. When will they reach California? Our retailers have been faithfully keeping Vallejo racks in their stores, but the stock has gotten very picked over. All the popular colors are unavailable. Hopefully the caps and nozzles are better on the new bottles. I've had so many nozzles split and caps pop the top off by slightly over tightening the lid. Love Vallejo paint but the lid section on the bottles let the paint down... Still better than Citadel pots though 😂

Pretend your Vallejo bottles a resin mini... be careful and gradual with it, or risk breaking it. Tip toeing around everything atm after breaking a sword on a resin mini the other week by just bumping my pinky into it... GW pots... hammer the suckers shut, thoroughly front and back, brute force is the answer here! Assuming you cleaned the lip of the bottle, if paint does run and get into it then ya it can't close perfectly. Still better than those old hard plastic ones (only one in ten of my old hard plastic hexagonal pots were still good when I pulled them out the other month... had one of the first citadel foundation paint pots, and it actually held out ok over the past decade of being ignored, new pots with slightly flexible tops have much better seals long term if you are careful with them.

It's not just over tightening. I have old Vallejo paints (like 10 years old) that never split. Meanwhile in the last month, I've had paints show up in mail with lids already split.

I do try to be careful with my paint pots but I'm a one handed painter so it can be a bit awkward at times, I don't have the same finess or fine motor skills as someone with two hands does. With the Ciradel paints, it's more the inability to accurately measure the amount of paint I get out, plus the flip top lid can be a pain when you're trying to juggle a brush, holding the pot and keeping the lid open, all in one hand, I should be a magician 😂

Hello Fastgti! Yep 😊To ensure the best possible result, it's important to take a few extra steps: Firstly, be sure to properly prime the piece before applying any paint. Secondly, if you plan to manipulate (play with it) the finished piece, it's recommended to protect it with a polyurethane varnish. These simple steps can make a big difference in the longevity and quality of your work. BUT... If you are considering using flexible resin or plastic on your figure or piece and need to bend those pieces/figures at some point, we suggest taking a few precautions. Before proceeding, it's important to test the paint on a hidden area of your figure or piece to ensure it will adhere properly and not peel off the surface. By doing this, you can make sure that your project will come out looking its best 😊

When painting whole armies with Game Color range, it is a bit of a hassle trying to find replacements for the colors that are removed from the range now. I already had a problem with reseller that sent the new formula gunmetal that is much darker. Coverage is great, but what I've read in a review, is that the more liquid paint goes into crevices acting at least partly like a wash would. But maybe I'll give it a go with one of the GC acrylics if this is the case before changing paint brand. I'll definitely try the metal color line.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the unavailability of certain colors. Our recommendation is to purchase any remaining stock of your preferred color from the old range to ensure you have reserves before the reformulation. On the other hand, in Game Color you have several subranges, some are normal colors, others are washed and others are also new, such as Xpress Color. These new paints are formulated to settle into gaps and wrinkles, creating a unique sense of detail when applied over a white spray primer. This can enhance the appearance of certain armies, their armor details, and textures, allowing for quick and effective painting techniques. The effects of the paint will vary based on how it accumulates (maybe this is the color you heard that was applied and their result as a wash? Vallejo offers different water-based chemical formulas, each one created for a particular segment of the hobby market, but all compatible with one another: 1. Model Color refs are creamy, highly opaque acrylics formulated principally for brush application. In this range, you also have standardized colors for your military pieces and requirements :) 2. Game Color has been developed for tabletop games. The range is designed for painting small figures and the formula has a lower viscosity and a resin more resistant to frequent handling (for wargames and gaming models). I picked up the special fx paint range and I am very disappointed in them. They're a half-hybrid between your express color and a paint with a gloss finish. There's nothing special about them and they don't do anything amazing.

Either they really are a sub-par FX paint, or there needs to be more instruction on how to benefit from the special formulas while using them.

Not a fan of the new formula, they’re too watery and transparent and barely cover the paint underneath also they brush terribly! The old formula was better, it was thicker but once thinned they had good coverage and flow and were great for basecoats! I paint statues that I sculpted and printed, I don’t paint miniatures! Are the new model colors using the same watery formula or are they thicker? May need to switch brands these thin paints don’t work on 1/6 th scale statues or larger!

Hello! We replied to some of your tweets and we are now waiting for your feedback so we can determine if the problems you faced were application issues or problems with the formula. We will need to know the finish you wanted to achieve, the techniques used and the colors or references you used (both in pure form or mixed with other colors or varnishes/mediums/etc). We are confident that our colors are very good and the formula is fantastic; the formula should not be watery but creamy, as shown in the video. Our new Model Colors have also been improved, and the formula should not be watery. Please, let us help and find out what is happening, we appreciate all info possible ;)

@@vallejocolors I responded on Twitter X, i used it on a wet pallet or a plastic pallet directly, it's more watery than the old Model Color Glossy Black not actually watery like a wash, but bc it's more watery than before it takes more coats to fully cover the colors underneath.

Brush application (with a flat brush) is not the best method for large/big pieces and figures. Using an airbrush will easily avoid brushstrokes and require less product 👍🏻 2. If you are looking for a gloss finish (the same one you got when you used Model Color Gloss Black), GC will not satisfy your needs (it is matte paint). Just use our new MC Black Gloss reference! 🖤 3. Game Color has a creamy consistency, high coverage, and matte finish, so we think that when you refer to transparent and speed paints, you are referring to Xpress Color, which is, in fact, a different product ✨ 3. Priming is always needed after white putty to avoid the white shade it leaves over the surface; sand to make the putty surface smooth, clean, and prime. Then you can apply the colors :) 4. Using a black primer will give you fewer headaches and is less time-consuming than if you use a white primer and you want to cover a surface in black color :) You also have many other colors in our Surface Primer range 🌈 5. We are still formulating and manufacturing our paints at Vallejo's facility with the help of our Chemistry and Research and Development Departments. This will not change, and we are committed to maintaining and increasing the quality of our paints for many decades to come! 🥰 6.
