Why would you mock her for thinking she can’t get scholarships because she’s white? It’s kinda ridiculous because her being a woman would offset that anyway. But there is clearly a misconception among many people that makes them not even try. Her having misinformation does not require a moral judgement. I’ve known black people that held the same perception. There are a lot of people that don’t even try because of what their parents or media have told them. I’m actually shocked it’s that high. That’s kind of too high imo. And her misconception kinda makes sense when you see how our government is dealing with these floods…same way they did Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. No need to answer. Scholarships for med school are more difficult to get compared to undergrad scholarships. Med schools usually give scholarships to a few students per class. Full ride scholarships for med school are rare and they usually require the student to do a PhD along with an M.D. resulting in adding an extra 2-3 years of schooling. A friend of mine had incredible credentials (high MCAT, years of clinical experience, ivy league undergrad). He did get a scholarship but still has to take out student loans for med school.

He has no idea how coercion leads to rape and also how it's safer for women to pay because it takes away the sense of entitlement. I think the jokes he made about it were really insensitive. He thinks just because he would never do that, that it's not super common. It IS super common for men to expect and pressure you for sex if they pay for dinner and some take it so far as to take what they deserve without consent. He also doesn't understand how insecure men get when they are rejected, so saying no to a ,an is actually dangerous in itself sometimes.

I remember a few years back when I was in college the professors telling us to apply to XYZ scholarships because there were basically no applicants. Sometimes to even apply to “asian grants” or “hispanic scholarship XYZ” even if we weren’t a member of those groups cuz nobody was applying so they would just give it to whoever applied regardless of what race they were.

I applied for over 70 scholarships and didn’t get 1. I had 3.8205 GPA, participated in several clubs in school, sports, the whole thing. Went into $144k in debt for college, but paid all of it off during the pandemic. I’m happy for anyone that’s able to get a scholarship and not get into debt and happy for everyone that pays off their loans. Student loan debt is a pain for sure.

Social media keeping up with the jones,their culture seems so imbedded in impressing a certain group to get into something else. As well as depression/social anxiety or loneliness a lot of people are so surface based now that it’s hard to find friends in that type of culture. Not saying that there is a direct correlation to bad spending and having no friends, but it’s a huge factor for some. Not saying all Americans are dickheads rather a good amount are mislead by social media’s top 10 % living a life and posting highlights of it and thinking their life would be so much better if they could post a picture of a cocktail on instagram brought by on a credit card with already mounts of spending not paying off monthly as they should be.i don’t think I’m wording this the best and this isn’t an inclusive American thing but their culture seems very much affected by it from the outside looking in.
@samanthagrace5227Ай бұрын
I meant exclusive to Americans not inclusive lol however I don’t know I find their culture so interesting in terms of this topic , theirs so many influencers there and you know if you can make money (ethically) off just living your life I don’t blame them for doing it but the consumption of it by people that aren’t driven or going through a mental illness or have jealousy problems would not be great for them to see. That’s not an influencers fault unless of course this influencer is lying about how they got the money which happens of course theirs always a rotten tomatoes in the bunch in anything in life. I just think the biggest problem countries like America in terms of this seem to be facing is a real social media addiction and jealousy or the need to want to keep up, without thinking to themselves how am I going to get to a lifestyle that’s similar or at least better.There are people who fall victim to this probably have gave themselves a mental illness through consuming too much social media that isn’t doing them any good and instead of working towards how to smartly manage time to make more for themselves want instant gratification, instead of finding ways to actually achieve what they want. They would rather a trip to Bali on a credit card this summer instead of sacrificing two years for example on investing, educating themselves on how to make your money work for you or instead of maximising their abilities to level up career wise. Anyone can make it with the right amount of will to do so but also of course theirs the victim card as well another whole issue within itself in the upcoming generation that I’m apart of us special gen z. we have our flaws and our strengths lol

Okay, this has been a trend with Caleb's guests lately. This woman doesn't need finance advice, she needs therapy. She's got a complex about feeling looked down on. Won't let anyone else pay for her because she thinks that they'll judge her, thinks that she can't get scholarships because she's a white woman, wants to join the military and also do medical school at the same time, knows she spends more than she makes but feels like she can't change, ect. And well, that makes some sense she has it, if her father literally stole her money basically by opening credit cards and loans in her name. But that's not a 'your financial choices are extremely bad' as much as a 'you need therapy to change your emotional behavior and outlook to avoid making the same choices.' She's in her own way.
@Twinkie989Ай бұрын
She does need therapy, but also doing therapy while in a program like a military program that allows her to feel successes would help great for her.
@stillyetanothersarahАй бұрын

@BlackChamomileАй бұрын
I know this is taboo but a lot of doctors (my doctors) and medical students (uni peers) have superiority complex, seems like she has the opposite and overcompensates. Like you said, 1) the need to pay for someone’s food despite not being able to afford it to keep up appearances 2)buying giftS for non-special occasions despite being in debt. Yes she doesn’t spend a lot by ca standard, she is well informed and overestimated her spending to keep herself in check, but i have a feeling she spends more for appearances (to appear middle class) than on herself. People from actual financially secure backgrounds feel more comfortable bragging about frugality because they know people from similar backgrounds have the same views towards money and can effortlessly show receipts (whip out lv wallet, prada handbag, yearly european holidays). But people who views others as more financially secure with an inferiority complex like hers needs to project that they are able by doing what she’s doing. She is a capable woman, just one with deep insecurities.

I think it's a combo of 1) she didnt want to work a lot because she was studying for the MCAT, which she kept failing, and she says she needs hours working with patients in person. Her 4 hour a day CNA job gave her loads of time (to study and soend money) and one on one paitent experience. I don't think she studied as much as she should have, or she isn't as smart as everyone says she is, because that score was low and she took the test 3-4 times. My cousin in law's daughter spent the end of last year applying to PA schools. She was told her first year of college to go to medical school or PA school etc, she needed to show loads of hours spent working with patients in a medical field--there was a target amount to aim for. They suggested everyone wanting to go on to do something like PA take the time to get a CNA or something and start working a few hours a week to build that resume up. The cousin's daughter chose to become a phlebotomist and work 10-15 hours a week minimum in a lab for most of her undergrad. She got her hours and earned money so she could pay her way (somewhat). She got accepted for next fall.

Idaho’s biggest crop yield IS actually potatoes, and Iowa’s is corn. Not sure what she’s on
@chaydonofallon1352Ай бұрын
The iowa claim is crazy but if you count harvested acres, idaho has more wheat acres than potatoes but potatoes yield more per acre and thus result in higher production. But that's a stretch to give her credit on the wheat being the biggest crop in idaho. I don't know where she got her info from.

Also, there's no medical school in Idaho

When it comes to education, this girl is killing it. Her family's dynamics is destroying her esteem.
@hausofphid3966Ай бұрын
Her parents are evil. What they are doing is not only insanely selfish, but in the case one card that was opened without her knowledge, is also ILLEGAL. The fact that they would pressure her to allow them to leverage her credit and future for things like landscaping and fast food?! Disgusting. I can't fathom doing something so morally bankrupt to my own child. I hope she cuts them off, at least financially. They should be deeply, deeply ashamed of what they've done.

Iowa is too hot in the summer to grow potatoes. We grow corn and soybeans. Not that anyone cares, it is …Iowa.
@JasonGroomАй бұрын
We grow some good potatoes, just can't grow the big ones that companies want to sell. Personal garden potatoes though can be some really good ones

Has miss girl never heard of academic scholarships… not everything is based on race
@Ocelot35Ай бұрын
She won't qualify for academic scholarships if the systems of institutional racism are holding back white people in favour of people with dispositions towards colour. It's 2024, dude. Be butter.
@swagraptor5477Ай бұрын
There are no scholarships for solely white people, but there are scholarships solely for other races. This put white people at a disadvantage aka it oppresses them relative to others.
@TheTruthiestАй бұрын
The fact that she said she bombed her MCAT 3 times means she probably won't qualify for an academic scholarship

For anyone thinking about medical school, the military is a great way to fund it. I know two people who have stayed past the four year commitment. I also know someone who went to optometry school with the military.

There are also programs where you can go to underserved areas that need practicing doctors and the government will essentially forgive school debt if you live and practice there.

As someone who received scholarships and tuition coverage from the Army, please do not go this route if you do not think you have the physical and mental willpower and ability to complete your contract from start to finish. If your contract is ended early (regardless of why or who initiated separation), you will have to pay back everything plus interest. I’ve seen it happen soooo many time so please be realistic before signing any contracts.

Lock your credit and you aren’t a pet person should be added to the regular advice like you aren’t a credit card person. Even if you have to clean it up yourself as soon as she found out about the dad credit cards she should have called and closed them on his ass.

This girl seems intelligent and responsible. I feel bad that her family put her in a tough spot. I'm sure she will be a great doctor!
