To her child, When you are an adult and your mother tries to guilt you into caring for her because she has no money, know that you were never her priority. As a mother myself, her language and attitude is clear. You were never her priority. Take care of your grandma but don't waste time on your mother. I cannot imagine the damage and trauma she has put on you. Learn from her mistakes

25:54 - She was traumatised too. There’s nothing that fucks with your head more than being spoiled as a child. You get what you want but not what you need. It’s one of the worst forms of emotional neglect I can think of because it’s so confusing for a child.

I am in an eerily similar situation as the child (im an adult now). My mother spent half of my life giving money to a family that robbed her of every penny and constantly doubted my ability to succeed in life. I have graduated college with no debt and will be commissioning into the military to give myself a better life, but I am torn. My mother is guilting me into buying her a home as soon as I am able to use a VA loan. I don't feel comfortable taking on that level of risk for someone that has never been good with money, but if I don't help her she will depend on accruing debt from people who do not care or respect her in any way 😔
@cau1471
@cau1471 16 күн бұрын
@LOL-kq2dd I don't want to sound like an a**hole, but do NOT take out a loan and buy your mom a house. It's gonna fuck you over so bad. If you were never your mom's priority, she has no right to demand anything or to be your priority. Never take out loans for anyone but yourself. If you feel so guilty, help her out here and there, but make it clear that you're not going to take on a loan to buy her a house. She should have learned to deal with her own finances and be responsible when she was your age. Yes, she gave you life, but you didn't ask her to do that. That was a choice she made on her own and you owe her nothing for it. I'm pretty damn lucky to have the family I have--my mother would never ask me to take out even a small loan for her. She would never expect me to buy her a house, even if I was making enough money to do so. My parents drilled into me the importance of finances and not going into debt, especially not for someone else. Anyway, I hope you're doing well. I hope everything works out for you, whatever ends up happening

The biggest issue I see is that she and many other people with personality disorders like her are allowed to study and graduate from anything mental-health related. I come from a South American country and at the university where I graduated we have special admissions exams for THIS exact reason, for whoever wants to study psychology even at a Bachelor’s degree level (she was allowed to get a Master’s degree ffs). The exams I’m talking about are actual psychological tests administered by psychologists that are also professors, along with an individual psychological interview. Not everyone is allowed to study psychology there, some people take the tests even 3 times throughout multiple years, and they never make it in because they themselves have a real diagnosis. I cannot understand why the US doesn’t have this in place.

@@rollinsolo1157I know in the west it's normal to move out ASAP, but it really isn't all it's cracked up to be. Most of the world practices intergenerational living & it's a wonderful thing. Staying home til you can buy your own place at least is just a wise move. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Personally, I'd love to be in a position someday where my kids can see their grandparents every day. So much better than the more disconnected culture we have today. I guess not everyone has the same relationship with their parents though. Some *do* need to get away. It's just not all it's cracked up to be if you do have a solid foundation with your parents.

@@Kenzingo I'm grateful for my parents letting me stay home and save money after I graduated highschool, however my dad has made the home a toxic environment. For fathers Day he said my mom ruined his day because she didn't get exactly what he wanted for dinner and called her a lazy piece of sh*t and hit her head with a thawed meat package when they were looking in the fridge for what to make for dinner. He has said and shouted a lot of things that cut us to our core. I want to get out as soon as I can, but that's only possible if I move out with my partner that I've been with for 2 years and that I completely trust. Without him, I couldn't afford to live out on my own. I make $1300 a month and rent in my area costs around $1200 a month. I know he values helping people and he does a great job but with how extreme the guest are it is hard to do. I assume Caleb just wants to help people who are deeper and deeper into their problems but it makes it hard to enjoy. You don't 'dodge a bullet' after creating a child with someone. If the dude figured out they were incompatible BEFORE creating a new life between them then certainly. But in this case? Nope. He shackled himself to a situation as even if he runs from paying outright, backed child support is a thing.

whatll be harder for you is to realize these guests are intentional and the whole shock factor is an act. Caleb reads the comments. the most repetitive and top comments asked for a heart rate monitor and competent guests who can actually benefit from being on the show. he listened to the heart rate monitor comments, and he surely read the other request, although that won't make for effective clickbait

What was the kicker right off the bat is how she said what her jobs were then when he said basically she makes a low amount for a mother with a young son she suddenly had more jobs that weren’t relevant enough to mention in the first place for whatever reason of hers. She had no reason to mention such jobs that she wasn’t making diddly squat from anymore 💀. Nothing more annoying then someone who tries to control others opinions on them by adding more on to what the given opinion was for and adding a helpful dash of angst to it.
