Good information. But they way you walked through those people on the train was epic when their legs were up 😂

It's weird how the skytrain has so much more passenger capacity than the light rail. You can see it in comparing station sizes too

I take those trains often in San Jose. I’ll be staying in Phoenix in a couple of weeks near the 44th street/Washington stop. I’m trying to avoid renting a car. But it’s so hot out there I may have to

The Signal priority seemed to work surprisingly well, did it feel like real rapid transit while riding?
@HOUExplorer2 жыл бұрын
Yes and I agree! I was surprise how fast the train was on the street level (felt like this train was on a elevated tracks). The train rarely stops, just keeps going til the next station. I’m not a huge fan street level trains, but this train makes an exception.

You didn't have to show the fare card to anyone or scan it? How do they know if everyone paid?
@HOUExplorer2 жыл бұрын
A few times (mostly during the day), I've encountered several Fare Inspectors. They carry a card scanner. You give them your fare card and they will swipe your card and check if it is valid.

Who's crazy idea was that nonsense monorail? Very poor planning. It's a long walk trying to carry heavy luggage through long hallways and on escalators just to get to the monorail. You'd think they would at least have had moving walkways there. A luggage cart would do no good, with the escalators. What does a person in a wheelchair do? Then when you finally get off the monorail at 44th Street/Washington, there is another walk, but part of it has moving walkways. Then after buying a Valley Metro ticket, there are yet more escalators to deal with. By then, passengers would be worn out and exhausted !! It would be less stressful and faster to take a cab or shuttle van service 'to/from' the airport. Instead of the monorail, the Valley Metro light rail tracks should have been on that right-of-way, with direct service to the air terminals. In Philadelphia, for example, the transit system's electric trains go directly from Downtown Philly to the International Airport and there are stops in each air terminal. Little walking necessary and no monorail needed.

You see that’s part of the problem. The light rail would be too far from downtown if it followed the airport corridor because the airport is literally just southeast of downtown, so going westward the rail would be too far south and the way to head up north would not give good ridership. To remedy this definitely a north-south spur line could work, but at that point it’s better to finally add proper grade separated metro. I actually have a fantasy map with that in mind. If you want I can send you a link of it
