Intrigued. What is the smaller Sony Camera setup and lens used in this video series (and also in your ads on the website?) Thanks

Hi! It is the Sony nex 5 with a TTartisan 60mm f2.8 Macro. :)

Do you recommend scanning from the emulsion side to avoid acquiring the image through the base (most film scanners do that) or do it the other way around like some flat scanners? The first will add a flip step to the process that some image processors/editors might handle in a batch mode but some won't. I'd appreciate an opinion here. Another question: I'm getting some light creeping into the initial and end frames of the strip. Should we avoid cutting the roll until after the scan?

@valoico Жыл бұрын
Hi! We always recommend just scanning it through the base - we have tested it extensively and found no difference, so it's easier to just skip the flipping step. Could you send us the light creep and let us know what lens and camera you are using to scan with? Our email is hello(at)valoi.co - we will take a look and let you know what we think the cause might be. For speed and quality reasons we do definitely recommend scanning before you cut to maximise speed and quality.

@@valoico Hey, thanks a load! Something you might want to add to the next manual print run. ;-) I'm traveling right now but will send you the affected mages on my return. Thanks again!

What's the best way to go about choosing the brightness level of the Easy35's lamp? Also, the color temperature (color) of the light it emits, since it is adjustable?
@valoico
@valoico 3 ай бұрын
For brightness, just use the brightest setting unless you are just viewing images on the unit or just setting up and want to see where the film is. For colour temperature, please follow the instructions in the manual: Warm for slide, white (or whatever else) for black and white, and cold for negatives.

Hi! Can I use this with a 72mm diameter lens with a step-down ring to 62mm? I’m planning to use it with my Sony 70-200mm G2 half-macro and 1.4x teleconverter.
@valoico
@valoico 4 ай бұрын
I would say yes. That is definitely an interesting combo! Please let me know how it performs. We were curious when this lens was published and especially the macro feature is exciting addition. Is it 1:1 magnification with the teleconverter? -Tuomas

If i have 70mm macro. Would you recommend to mount it to full frame and keep it 70mm or mount it to aps-c so it’s more like a 100mm? Both full frame and aps-c 24mp.
@valoico
@valoico Жыл бұрын
Both should be fine with the easy35 - if you have both cameras, then perhaps the full frame camera will give better results, but if the APS-C camera is much newer that might also be better. It depends on the cameras

I know the name implies that the system is designed for 35m film, however are there plans to make attachmenrs for other older film types such as 120, 110 & 125? The reason for this question is that i was just handed a box of 120 negatives from the last century & would like develop them using a cost effective for Christmas album gifts.

Hi! At the moment we focus on releasing the Slide Holder for Easy35. The bigger formats like 120 is currently something that is not on our list of priorities at the moment. We would recommend taking a look our 360 product line and especially the Enthusiast kit as you may have a lot of 120 film in strips. We are carefully listening market on what holders would have the highest demand. Thank you for letting us know your thoughts! -Tuomas/VALOI

do you have any lenses to reccomend for sony 6300?
@valoico
@valoico 7 ай бұрын
I would recommend 7Artisans` 60mm macro. It is fairly cheap, small and yet offers great image quality when stepped down to f5.6-f11 -as you would anyhow when scanning. Of course the Sony E mount enables you to adapt variety of lenses and even manufactures like Sigma offers the 70mm and 105mm macros but to keep your APS-C kit as compact as possible, I would go with the 7Artisans. kamerastore.com/fi/products/7artisans-60mm-f2-8-mkii -Tuomas/VALOI

just unboxed mine.. and found it incredibly difficult to scan strips that are excessively curved. the 35mm holder doesn't have any guides internally, so once the film enters, it just curves into the space inside. Ive removed the holder to test it out manually, and even if i guide the film through, it has too much curvature to scan properly.
@valoico
@valoico 10 ай бұрын
Hi! Could you send us an email with pictures of your film? This really shouldn't be the case with 'normally' curved film. If it is 'excessively' curved, there is no scanning holder in the world that will hold that flat other than a sheet of glass... You will likely want to look into techniques for flattening the film somewhat ahead of time.
