That lurking duelist triggered me. It's hard being an initiator main setting them up for an entry only for you to see them making their way to the enemy spawn, dying there, and finding out they bought a rifle on round 2 which is now in the hands of the smurf enemy Jett. The duelist then blames the team for being "stupid" and the reason why his lurk play didn't work.

if you win round 1 you should absolutely buy rifles on round 2. you get a free win plus you keep a few rifles for round 3 which boosts your eco. if you lose round 1 though obviously you should save, so that round 3 you have a chance of taking the lead back from the enemy

@@allerasthesphinx7184 buying rifles is usually risky asf and typically looked down upon by the general player base. I personally would consider someone to be “throwing” if they buy rifles second round, since it forces them to play a lot more passive, which is contrary to the more aggressive playstyle you should be using since you won first round, otherwise giving your opponents a HUGE potential advantage. Buy a spectre or something, it’ll keep the enemy from killing you with pistols during the second round (unless you just genuinely suck) and can compete with rifles in certain situations (which you can create on the third round when your opponents full buy). I just wouldn’t be that one person to buy a rifle with light shield second round, it can rly get your team to not like you :/

@@allerasthesphinx7184 It's a free round if you buy SMGs too, and definitely don't lurk when you have the gun advantage because if you die, then the enemy team gets that gun, and if you had a rifle, well that will help them on round 3, because since they lost pistol round, they should be buying that round, but you giving them a rifle means that one of them won't have to buy should they win, and that boosts their momentum. TL:DR, buying rifles on round 2 is grief.

Play Astra, put smokes on site, stun and pull common spots the enemies stay on, so they don't have to clear it, just to watch them not take site and now I have no stars left.

recommendation for entry fraggers who like to look at stats: calculate you KAST%. It's the percentage of rounds where you get either a kill, assist, survive, or get traded in 5s. I don't know why tracking sites don't feature this, but it is, in my opinion, a better representation of impact than ACS or KDA

"high" is in the eye of the beholder in this case. In professional games, around 70%-80% can be considered standard. If you look at soloq, however, values below 50% aren't that rare

@@gunner5111 Yes, but even pro players have a hard time maintaining a KAST above 90%. For low elo players, I imagine KAST would be as low as 50% sometimes. Meaning, you've done absolutely nothing except die 50% of the time. Most players don't get the kills, don't do enough damage/use util for assists, don't survive, or don't play with their team such that the trade comes in (and as the video suggests, dying as a duelist is still useful). Even those ranked demon Reynas probably either get a couple kills or just die off the rip without providing any value.

Most play reyna, then rank up and then when they face better opponents they cant contribute cus they cant get kills. Raze, Jett, Neon are way better cus you can create space with ur utility without having to rely on aim.

I second this _but_ I just noticed recently that this happens a lot when my team *least expects* me to go push in first instead of taking site together with everyone else. After that, every time I feel like dashing in and sacrificing myself, I just tell my teammates beforehand about what I will be doing, therefore prepares the team mindset to push after me and make my sacrifice valuable (eg. by trading). In other words, this scenario happens only if we communicate our plans and commit to it. Hope this helps

Another tip, Don't just commit to a site straight away. Wait for the enemy team to use there utility before committing. Try and bait it out if you can. You don't want to dash onto a site and then instantly have a sage wall or slow orb you off or even have your team mollied off so now you're stuck on site all by yourself. Also be aware and try to remember where your enemy teams players are playing. If they're stacking sentinels or controllers on one site, play around that. Go to a different site, or try and move them off by baiting somewhere else.

I have over a thousand hours in val, a lot of which I spent in plat, so let me tell you all, elo hell is REAL and baiting duelist are a PLAGUE. The only reason I managed to get out was because I started to instalock duelist and carry myself out. If you are in plat it is borderline mandatory to start playing duelist or que with others to get out.

I think it totally depends on your personal skill set. If aim and reaction time are your strongest attributes then yeah just win gun fights. If you're better at reading the game and using Util then maybe smokes or another supportive role will work better. I have carried plenty of games on Viper, Omen, Brim and Astra.

I never touched a duelist since climbing and i dont get why people think the agent u play affects ur climb.

When you reach elo hell try to be a lot more flexible and try out different roles to fill. That or you could work with your aim and just take gun fights. Had a rough time reaching immortal because of the exact same reasons and after a couple of weeks I started to see that I also lacked certains skills (Timing Rotations, Asking for a flash and post plants). Sometimes its not only the team but you as well.

As a duelist, I’ve come to a few conclusions about my role. 1) my whole mission is to create space/ opportunity on sites for my team. 2) the duelist you main determines what kind of site entries you can make. 3) timing for entries depend on your main. For example, I can dash onto site or I can blind. Both have different timings. 4) you have to get/ give as much info to your team as possible. I think that recognizing these points makes a good duelist. Obviously being able to win engagements in chaotic situations is important as well. But, there is a time and place for lurking. Reyna is a good lurk agent. Also, your team comp most definitely has an impact on how and when you entry. There is a difference between having a skye flash back site on Breeze so you can dash directly on to site vs no initiator help. It requires a TEAM to win. Communicating, getting info, using utility, and supporting gunfights is critical. And keeping a good team mental is underrated.

Duelist dont want to push is exactly why i became Cypher main. Staying in the main for a long time usually becomes a signal for enemy team to lurk and pich us from behind. With Cypher i can hold them lurker or lurking my self while also make sure my team mates safe or atleast know when they bout to get pich like an idiot sandwich.

The non entry duelist was the reason I was stuck in silver for 2-3 acts as I was playing only Sage and Sova back then. It's the classic waiting for 1 minute and me getting triggered and losing my patience, so I entried as sentinel many times. I lost most of my attack rounds that way and only won easily on defense (surprise). Then I learned how to play duelist and got out of that elo hell.

@@ryanlee9150 Reyna on most of my duelist games in silver to diamond and when she got instalocked I played Raze or Neon. Reyna is very simple and easy to learn for duelist beginners, she just doesn't have much strategy options. It's just blind and entry the site, but enough for low elo 👍

As a raze main who try's my best to learn all the good satchel mechanics this video reminds me of how tilting low elo comp games can be. I will literally tell team, "hey lets rush A, I can double satchel on and, everyone follow fast behind me and take the trade if I die. Omen smoke X choke, Kayo throw knife for me please." Round starts Kayo refuses to come to sight and throw knife, and my Reyna duelist instead of coming behind and taking the easy double kill goes and lurks in a corner. So I jump on sight with 3 uncommitted teammates, take a couple trades, but now the sight only has 1 person defending spike instead of 3 and they get rushed, gunned down, and lurking Reyna and useless Kayo are pissed about me playing too aggressively. I'm like bro that's literally my job. Only time they are happy is the one out of 4 or 5 where I jump in and manage to get a triple and then they are like oh finally Raze is being useful. Solo cue is so tilting sometimes haha.

Lurking duelists defend their actions because they treat lurk kills in the same way as entry kills or even first bloods. Nope, they are not. What's funnier is that lurking duelists have this one great misunderstanding about playing the game: they love pushing on defense, but they are scared as shit of pushing on attack. This is both a byproduct and cause of two great misunderstandings about playing the game: "first bloods/lurk kills = entry frags" and "duelists should have high KDA ratios". Seriously, a large number of duelists swear, even subconsciously, by these views that it grinds my gears everytime.

i follow these 4 principles every game but sometimes things don't go as you planned. Like when ur team just straight up told u to go in when they are 5 stacking one site and viper smoke active. HOW THE FUCK AM I MEANT TO WIN THAT ???. i waited for rotatiuon from the enemy team, but my teammate lost patience and decided to rush in. 3 were killed, the enemies knows they won this round with their full ultility available, so they rush us. i managed to get 2, but thats it. after that i get blamed for baiting team and not entrying ???? i literally called wait for their rotate but they don't care lmao

the amount of times i tell my teammates imma flash out this smoke, or this corner to push on to site (i main kayo) and they just sit back so i don't get traded is insane, or when I'm out of flashes cos we rotated or something and the reyna sits there and doesn't entry despite the dead people on the team basically screaming at them to flash, like why, just do ur job mate, u literally have the most broken flash in the game, you can place it through walls, it doesn't blind ur team8s and takes 3 bullets to break and people panic when they cant see aight that's enough venting

Valorant can be a pain to play. Especially due to the average age of Val players is pretty young. Which is fine but the ability to be retrospective and think how does my actions affect others is something that severely lacks. Albeit it’s not just something that’s age related , but it is harder at younger ages

I'd argue initiators are getting the worst of it in the plat and lower lobbies. Sick of an instant lock jett or Reyna bitching about not winning rounds when fade or kayo marks 2 or 3 on site and try to enter in with more util and you die on from an off angle that could have been traded if someone entered with you. But you die and see the sage or viper and someone else sitting back near spawn or pushing back already cause someone died.

As a reyna main i feel reyna is probably a better lurker than entry frag and its stupid to expect her to be an entry frag unit especially since my aim and reaction isnt god tier. Especially since solo queue is stupid hard 3:49 you have no idea how many times i have gotten 1st pick pressed my invisible ability with reyna yelling get in here help me help just for my teammates to not do shit scared to walk through the smoke at entry while everones looking at me waiting for my timer to run out so they can gun me down
