I grew up with a southern Mom, and omygoodness what a wonderful cook!! Garden veggies and we had chickens and raised animals for eating. And honestly we had more health issues after we moved to the city.. More processed foods. things might have been easier in some ways than the farming but I don't think it was better. When looking back , I think we were all healthier. The ham looked delicious, We had a smokehouse so we had meat like that.
