Value Studies 101: Master This, And You Will Become The Master of Realism And Semi-Realism Painting

Hello, this is Coax.
This video is about the value studies that everybody's been requesting for.
Value study is a study where you can practice getting the basic skills on painting shapes, masses, and shades.
I used Adobe Photoshop for this video. But since it doesn't need special editing tools to do the study, you can use whatever program you usually work with such as Clip Studio, Paint tool SAI, MediBang Paint, iPad.
All the students in my class do this study to practice the basics of digital painting, and they are all effectively getting better at the basic painting skills.
Once you get used to this method of study, make sure you time your work with a timer!

The korean artists on twitch completely destroy everyone else. They seem to all be based in Seoul as well. Especially the artist TBChoi. I wonder if they just have access to different art educational materials there since all us westerners have access to is clickbait youtube videos and 70 year old bridgeman/loomis books. Could just be a mindset mentality as well, since in western society you can just be a useless piece of shit and still get by fairly easily(not as an artist though, since art is international now).

@@dungofrungus7659 I read an actual study on this while i was in college. It said that korean art school focus mainly on the skill part while western art schools focus on the conceptual part. So basically they actually had teachers for anatomy, colour theory, etc while we get "what is the meaning? how does this make you feel?" and had to figure out the rest by ourselves.
