Two main reasons for this. Economy & Social Media. No one can afford kids. Back in the day as a man if I was working in the 50’s I could work a simple job like warehouse or retail and own a home support my stay at home wife and 2 kids and a dog. Now both the man and woman work 40-60 Hrs a week and split the bills on a one bedroom apartment and are barely scraping by and not even spending time with each other. And social media open the dating world to a global dating market. Now all girls want a 6ft plsu man (even if they are 4ft 10in) and want six figures and awesome looks because they get thousands of dms. The average guy is getting absolutely screwed.

I lived and worked in South Korea for 8 years as a university professor and the majority of the young adults in my classes said they were not getting married and not having children. When asked why, they said, " In Korea the youth are not taught how to interact with each other the way they are in the West. We go to school during the day and then attend after school, after school. The pressure of passing a national exam and getting into a good university places so much stress on us that all we think about is getting good grades.As a result, we do not know how to socialize with the opposite gender and we don't learn boundaries. The only model relationships we have are our parents and for most of us, dad is working until up to 2 a.m. and mom is home either unhappy or neglected but they stay together because divorce is shameful in our society and they'd rather their kids see two parents together, than one. Then we get older and go to university and by age 23 our families and society say, "Ok! Time to find a partner, marry and have babies!", but society forgets that we don't know each other. Even young girls are expected to be home by 10pm, again we are separated. Money is only a small reason why we don't want to get married or have kids. But a big part of it is because we don't know what a healthy relationship looks like, no one teaches us, we don't see examples of it in our family life. So it's not worth it."---- I....was...flooored!!!!!

Oh Big surprise, MASSIVE downturn because of the 2008 markets crash and everyone lost their jobs and it became less viable to have children. No wonder. All that money printing only helped the wealthy and the banks none of it got transferred to the people. No wage increases, just higher prices, cost of living skyrocket. Seems very familiar to current markets, more money printing, more inflation, less jobs, more people out of the rat race. This is not a people problem, this is a systemic issue with the system currently. The biggest flaws are coming to light and no one is talking a bout it enough. Many people don't realize that their big spends are actually the result of convenience - being close to a big city, being close to "common goods", being close to nice technology, nice medical centers, nice schools, nice food and etc. When you are ready to give up some of that(not everything. Not telling to go off grid. Just give up some of that), you'll see that your paycheck is actually enough for a decent living, as long as you're ready to hire certain.. "new skills", and change your life style somewhat.

Man, these guys are not the sharpest tools in the shed. the main reason women are not having kids anymore is because it's to expensive. In 1950 a man with one income could buy a house, a car and feed his family of 5 or 6. The wife didn't had to go work because life was affordable. Today just giving birth at the hospital comes with a price tag of 30K. Unions were powerful and the after war economic boom was pushing the wages up...yes it was creating inflation but when the wages fallows...inflation is not a big deal.

The problem is the women in their Prime reproducing years are having multiple abortions and staying single, then in their 40s they try to lock down a man and start a family, but they have trouble getting pregnant because they are now nearly too old to conceive. All these studies are just trying to distract from societal issues of easy abortions being used as birth control, as well as damage from the ouchies, when it was found that the spikes they make you generate CONCENTRATE in the uterus lining, making it super-hard for eggs to attach.

People want to blame the economy, but it's not. It's all social. The economy would naturally adjust to an economy with more families. The status quo sets the standards and rules for that point in time. If there's more families, everything else in society would adjust to that. Kids, families, are just not in people's values right now. They are afraid to miss out on what they see in social media, afraid to make "less" money. We live in a society focused on vacationing, dining out, etc... It's all visible on social media. That life benefits business and Corporations, not humans. Having a family is the best and most normal thing humans can do.

Can anyone explain me what is the "necessity" of having a child, except unlocking some "personal achievements" or following "religious/traditional norms"? Don't sell me the "but self-value, and self-realization" bs, as the value of those words is always personal, and unless I had the entire life to live in your shoes, it might still not be enough to understand your point, because you people often put too much unconscious, emotional meaning, which often is boiled down to obedience for "religious/traditional norms", but with a context of the social pressure of the people you've grown around. So.. have anyone ever given a decent explanation why having a child is "necessary"?
@sergeilunev2244
@sergeilunev2244 Ай бұрын
And please don't rush to "prove me wrong" if that topic strikes your nerve. Some people are trying to force themselves into having a child because of societal pressure, and despite not wanting it, are wasting a bit too much energy to prove everyone, and mainly themselves, that they do want to have a child. Mostly because they don't want "the stigma". I'd appreciate a cool, non-emotional, clear and logical explanation.
@link10909
@link10909 29 күн бұрын
Strictly speaking nothing is "necessary", people living past 40 isn't necessary. The argument is actually about what is good (moral traditional religious view) or what is healthy societally. Both a religious view and a healthy society (talking a utilitarian prospective) make allowance for non-child bearing people (nuns, or unfit parents for example) but at the societal level see the decline in population fertility as troubling. If you look at societal well-being having kids is something people should do for a few reasons, an inverted population pyramid will lead to mass elder poverty and a shortage of caregivers. Also parenting encourages long-term decision making for the benefit of future generations rather than disregard for their interest in favor of personal interest. (Do you dump chemicals in the river to get a short term gain or do you consider poisoning the next generation a bad thing?) Finally if you are skeptical of the benefits of religious dogmas running society you should consider that low rates of reproductivity among secular first worlders leads to import of excess third world labor which shifts democratic societies into dogmas (see the growth of the influence of Islam in Europe).

@@stampthelamp Congratulations on Baby #7. I'm extremely happy for you & your wife. But my argument would be, your own personal reality, isn't everyone else's. There are some people who don't just casually spend money on materialistic items, and are still struggling financially. SOME people are literally on the borderline of homelessness and can't even afford to maintain their current lifestyle, let alone provide a suitable lifestyle for a child. It's easy to speak on your personal situation, but at the end of the day, that isn't the reality for everyone else, and some people don't have the luxury to be able to financial provide for a child without literally going broke. Childcare is extremely expensive, by the way. Especially in 2024 with inflation skyrocketing through the roof. People choosing to not have children now doesn't mean that they don't make sacrifices and are unable to be financial responsible. It just means that they are mature enough to realize that bringing a child into poverty isn't such a good idea.

We arent mad we're laughing on the side lines as women girl boss their way into their 30s then complain about not being able to find a guy. Even dudes who make bank and could comfortably support a family are choosing not to do so. I wonder if thats cause marriage laws in the US are extremely predatory towards men. I wonder if its cause women can have a man forcibly removed from his home by the cops from falsely accusing him of domestic assault. Weatern women are a plague to be avoided. There could be good ones out there but its not worth it when a chance exists to have your life ruined in a number of ways. But yea men are just angry, lost snd crying. Talk about being insanely out of touch

@@MrAirnike8So you're telling me the guy with average looks who hit on you was "not up to your standards" yet you're going after Chad Chaderton that hundreds of other women are targeting. Its rare to find a woman who're not duplicitous in their language.

It's the females and the economy there's no question that the next major war by us won't be won because there's nothing to fight for here anymore

7:10 doesn’t make sense. Stress releases cortisol, cortisol lowers testosterone and actually helps store fat.

I wish you would also look at the homicide rate of children. Not only is our birth rate declining, but so many of the children that are born are killed by their own parents, severely abused, or thrown into foster care. It's a sad state of affairs. I only have one, but I had her at 33 and was told I had a 7% chance of conceiving naturally. She's my miracle baby. And she's so precious to me, I just can't image what these evil parents are thinking/feeling

Why should anyone have kids in a world where A.I will make all the music and art, not them, and where the only love, relationships and intimacy they will ever get will come from robots, not human beings? What, are they only meant to be consumers, not creators?

Wireless/microwave radiation is the elephant in the room. WiFi is a HUGE factor in people having a hard time having kids/miscarriages. If you want to reproduce, keep the cellphone far away from your testicles. Distance is your best friend.
