I have 03 Tiburon gt v6 2.7L the Delta.... An this needs to be done to mine, along with a list of repairs an all. But the problem is I'm not able to do the work myself, an have to find someone to help me get then done. Spark plugs, wires, seals, brakes, and belts. Wsh me luck. I love my Tiburon !!!

-"Best feeling in the world when you get done" I shared that feeling... I had to replace the spark plugs and cables, which you have to remove same parts to access the spark plugs underneath the surge tank... Unfortunately, after removing everything I found oil inside the spark plugs' chambers, so I guess I will be replacing the valve cover gasket soon. I noticed you had the surge tank not entirely removed but rather, moved to the side. I removed mine, just felt I did not wanted to let it rest on top of other components. Thank you for the video!

I found that the valve covers went on a lot less dramatically if I removed the fuel injector connectors. You're also supposed to use a small dab of silicone on the edges of the cover and at the seams of the casting since those are prone to small leaks otherwise. Your intake issue was probably due to you not loosening the black bracket at the back when putting the upper intake on - it needs to be able to move freely in order to seat properly against the lower intake and the gasket. The black bracket is there to provide structural support for the entire assembly; the vibrations from the engine and the weight of the throttle body can put enough torque on the upper intake to crack it. Getting the black bracket to move freely involves cracking loose three more bolts further down on the engine, and getting those tightened back is a pain and a half.. All that said, this is a good engine. No EGR, no VVT, no nonsense aside from a rather fickle ECU. :) It even holds some boost on stock internals; you can get ~330 hp out of it with stock internals and less than 1 bar of boost.

Also I noticed you didn't take off the battery negative terminal and the positive terminal and it takes time for the throttle body to tell the ECM what it's settings are so that can cause all kinds of misfire issues and other problems. But once it reads enough time for for driving it resets. Sometimes you have to do a hard reboot by connecting the negative and the positive cables not on the battery

Man my car has the same engine just got done doing both gaskets and my intake plenum is making that same noise and car runs bad i tried to buy a new intake gasket and the car barely stays idling

No black silicone gasket maker anywhere before installing the valve cover with new rubber gasket? I know some valve covers need silicone in spots along with the gasket

On my Hyundai Santa Fe V6 3.3l There was 2 dabs of silicone where the cover has joints.

Just get done with this and finished with 4 extra number 7 bolts… and a clip bar gonna have to take it back apart tomorrow

There's a bracket behind the upper intake manifold held in by three bolts. Just remove it, you don't need it, and just one more thing to remove/put back on.

I've actually fiddled mine back on every time I've removed the upper intake. I know the intake is more than strong enough to hold itself in, but the bracket does provide some support for it, so it's just one more safety measure against cracking either the upper or lower intake. The bolts aren't *THAT* hard to get to; a 12mm flex-head ratchet wrench is ideal for this.

How many pounds do you tighten the valve cover bolts?

About 18 Nm, i.e. not very tight at all. You just need to do several passes around the entire cover because every time you tighten one bolt to spec, the rest loosen up a bit...

Most of the time they are reusable on intake gasket because it's metal just make sure that there is no dents or pits in the ceiling surface or you can just replace it since you have to remove it. It's called a upper intake plenum gasket Dirt Cheap in price. Do it right first time you won't have any comebacks
