Ive got an index with v1 basestations and think psvr2 will replace it. So far the only thing that stops me is 120hz only with my radeon. No way ill spend £1350 on a headset only but i like the direction they went with, as small and light as possible.

Great review! I sadly returned my beyond due to the small sweet spot and blurry edge to edge clarity. I was disappointed having to keep my eyes straight all the time. The Beyond showed me why OLED needs to become the norm for VR hmd's though. I'll be sticking to my index for now.

@@decent_cheesecake They give you a 14 day window once you receive it to refund the headset. Once its shipped they take a 20% restock fee if you decide to refund, but if you cancel before you get the hmd its 100% refund. Kinda sucks, the audio strap is 100% refund but the prescription lenses don't. If you just wanna try it im not sure if its worth the hassle and money even with the tempting oled and resolution. Their discord is best way to contact them they respond quite fast

The Beyond is honestly terrible. No wonder the return rates are less than 1% when the support tries their best to make you keep it until you can't send it back. No doubt some people love the Beyond, but it seems like a 50% split between people. I myself returned to the index and am never going back.

Great video. I have at RTX4090 top end PC but I'm waiting for a new VR headset with specs of the bigscreen beyond (BSB) BUT with AT LEAST 120 degrees field of view (ideally 180) AND 120hz refresh (ideally 144) at full resolution without requiring any upscaling - i dont mind if its a bit heavier. I'm guessing from what you said that the BSB will have full support for use with next generation VR gloves that give precise finger tracking and full haptic feedback feeling, so you could touch and interact with objects in VR?

Got the beyond and absolutely love it. I think the big thing alot of people need to understand is that it's a custom product. Just like a custom tailored suit, it's just not gonna feel right or look right till you get the right fit. But once you get the beyond dialed in, whether first try or with their support, it's absolutely insane.

Hey Marty, I got my vive The second week it was out. My total cost for VR and the PC to run it was $1,328 For the HMD and new MB CPU GPU. That does not count the $900 for my sim racing rig, then $400 for my flight system, and $75 for my motorcycle handlebars. I am a VR nut. Though I do ride my GSXR all over. That VR system is pushing 6500 hours of use. I love driving, flying, fighting and so on with no real-world repercussions. Your mind opens up sometimes in ways you can't imagine otherwise.

Bigscreen claims that the return rate for the Beyond is less than 1%. People who return the Beyond often make _a lot_ of noise about it, and this can make it seem like there's a lot more customer dissatisfaction with this headset than there really is.

I had been fooled by corporation companies about the fake percentage rate. Would I ever trust them again? Screw it NOOOOO!!!
@SargonDragon4 ай бұрын
@@toututu2993 I get that. However, I've been running into more and more people on VRChat that run or have run Bigscreen Beyonds. And my anecdotal experiences match what these numbers say. Almost everyone I meet that has actually owned a Beyond loves it and has had very little trouble with it. Just a couple of people that I've met have had a bad experience with the Beyond, but they shit talk it so heavily that many other people I've talked to stay away from the Beyond because they've heard that lots of people had problems with it. When I dig into it, I keeping finding that this "lots of people" consistently tracks back to just the same two people.

@@SargonDragon This is coping. You don't have to look hard to find negative reviews about the beyond. Im sure around 1% sends their headset back in. Most, like myself, likely just keep trying to figure out how to enjoy their $1000 headset. Even in the discord, most of the first impressions are not great and echo all of the issues

I'm like two steps away from getting into VR. I just can't decide. Valve index is old but the controllers and tracking are still praised as the best/one of the best you can have by many. As is the sound. The 'only' thing that's actually outdatet are the optics of the headset. I think I will actually get the index and upgrade the headset to something else in a few months(disposable income be praised). Pimax cystal light +lighthouseplate seems like a nice option for that...but maybe there will be other options by then. With my luck valve will release their new set 2 weeks after I get my index:D
@a5cent3 ай бұрын
Don't think the Index's tracking is the best. Well, it is, but it's because it uses the lighthouse boxes. Many headsets can work with them, and they are then all identically accurate.
@DiamondDepthYT12 күн бұрын
I agree with the guy above me. Index controllers/base stations are what make the tracking, and they can be used with other headsets.
