With all due respect dude... you said "Ford Motorcraft FULL Synthetic Blend Oil" and there is no such thing. You either have Full Synthetic or Synthetic Blend. And the Motorcraft is a Synth Blend. So this test is not fair, as you are comparing a FULL SYNTHETIC Valvoline with a SYNTHETIC BLEND Motorcraft.

I ran Valvoline partial Synthetic in my 1991 Ford Ranger 2.3 waaaay back in the day ....Sold it with 230,000 miles .The guy i Sold the truck too still drives It in 2020 it has to be reaching 300k miles by now

Will considering you were running a synthetic blend against a full synthetic I would say the synthetic blend Motorcraft did quite well and the slight difference in the results does not justify using anyting else but the Motorcraft synthetic blend in my new F-150 with the 5.0 😁.

@@annakessler9372 Full synthetic is not a fossil petrol product, is man made, conventional oil come from fossil petrol and synthetic blend is a hybrid mixture of synthetic and conventional oil in some ratio, example 70 / 30 or 80 / 20 percents synth/fossil.

I have always been a Valvoline fan and I only use full synthetic oil in my vehicles. I have used a ton of different synthetic oils in my vehicles prior to Valvoline and truthfully never noticed any drivability difference or performance difference. The only true long term test I can attest to is my parents 2005 Toyota Camry. They have used mobile 1 extended performance since I can remember and changed the oil per recommendation of mobile 1. The car now has over 170k miles on it and still drives like a dream. Not to mention has power you can still burn out with that thing easily and no it's not cause the suspension is worn out cause that was replaced not long ago lol.

Motorcraft Synthetic Blend is about 20% synthetic and is manufactured by Conoco Phillips. It's actually a pretty good oil, especially for the money. Amsoil has it rated pretty high on it's comparison tests

Valvoline has always been my personal favorite motor oil ever since I started to drive. I did like how Valvoline was clinging to the wheel. This is what happens when I feel a slightly smoother operation with valvoline compared to some other oils. The Motorcraft is a synthetic blend so this does show that synthetic blend is inferior, regarding evaporation and wear, compared to full synthetic. Synthetic blend oils still do a good job in the real world and is all a car will ever need. Even conventional is all a car will ever need. I've had a vehicle last 300,000 miles with only conventional oil every 5,000 miles. Regular maintenance is definitely the key in longevity. I personally always use full synthetic in all my vehicles. *I would highly suggest Quaker State vs Pennzoil. Same manufacturer (SOPUS), different products. It should be an interesting match up. I'm loving this oil Championship Nate. Keep it coming. Hope you on the Quaker State vs Pennzoil matchup.

I have used Valvoline Max Life for the last 20 years the most. I even toped off a rebuilt 3 speed transmission with new torc converter i installed in 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais 5.0 V8 used to own. Now I am using Valvoline Max Life Full Synthetic in 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7 liter hemi I own with a mopar 090 oil filter.

You should try some bearing wear test with the motor oils at below freezing temperatures. To simulate starting and idling a vehicle in freezing cold or colder weather.

To a degree this is pertinent; if you go to a Ford quick lane for an oil change you’re likely going to get Motorcraft semi syn oil. So after 5 years of of dealer oil changes, compared to doing it yourself with Valvoline full syn, it makes you wonder just how much more wear you’ve gotten doing dealer oil changes vs doing it yourself with a full syn. Seeing this, apparently quite a bit.....

Just one question. Were the Flames adjusted to the exact same setting on each heat test? If it was not this test is no good. Seeing how there is no way you can get the exact flame height by using that little burner the test you done by heating the oil is no good. That is due to you have no control of a flame type burner

Valvoline Advanced Full Synthetic is probably best 0w 20 oil made right now, IMO. But this test was not fair at all. Motorcraft actually makes a good full synthetic oil. And I hate Ford nowadays.

Oil is like a religion with people. Use the specs the manufacture says to use and by what ever color bottles you want. Brand doesn’t matter, changing your oil regularly does. I promise you there’s not a manufacture out there producing a magic oil.

That would be a good comparo! MC full syn has some excellent specs with regard to cold pour point and flash point. Way better than the MC semi syn. Be interesting to see if it could take the Amsoil down.

A person really needs to factor in cost with the whole deal. If 200,000 miles is your goal just about any oil will work at 3 or 4000 mile changes. Synthetic or not they all go to 200,000 unless its just plain abuse and stupidity.

Shouldn’t you do the bearing test when the oil is hot and cold because it’s multi weight oil when it’s cold it’s at 5 weight and when it warms up it’s at a 30 weight

All that aside each oil has its own addictive package so they are each better than each other at something. Some lubricate better some are better at thermal break down some are better at cleaning your engine it all depends on what the manufacturer targets.
